AMG SL Speedster MYTHOS" (?) on 06.06-08.06.2024

No one knows yet, it's not official, and not too many people should be informed - but at Mercedes-Benz, the debut of the first highlight of the Mercedes MYTHOS series is imminent! The debut of this strictly limited sports car, which is most likely the AMG SL Speedster MYTHOS, will be revealed as a sneak preview from 06.06 to 08.06.2024 at the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, with only a handpicked audience invited. Mercedes-Fans.de has caught wind of the "secret" pre-premiere of the open AMG performance two-seater.

Offering the best to a fewA selected group from the ranks of wealthy Mercedes customers will be given the opportunity to attend the sneak preview (an unannounced pre-premiere before an official release) of the first highlight of the Mercedes Mythos series. Only those who are invited and confirm their attendance will be able to witness the exclusive presentation of the limited-edition AMG performance version of the MYTHOS series from 06.06 to 08.06.2024 at the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen.Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius often talks about Mercedes-Benz building "the most desirable cars in the world." And when he speaks like this, he is also thinking of particularly high-priced vehicles in limited small series, offered only to a carefully selected, wealthy clientele. Mercedes-Benz has already created a special product line called the "MYTHOS series" some time ago for this purpose.

Which vehicle from the new MYTHOS series will be the first? In the invitation to the sneak preview, which Mercedes-Fans.de has obtained exclusively and which shows the covered debutant in the upper part, it literally says: "Look forward to exclusive AMG performance, based on an open vehicle concept with an extremely low silhouette, without a roof or windshield, and with the Halo roll-over protection system known from motorsport, which enables a high-speed driving experience only with a helmet."

Will a unique Mercedes legend be born on 06.06.2024?

The MYTHOS debut, announced as a completely new model, is most likely the AMG SL Speedster teased by Mercedes-Benz months ago. However, the teaser image shown back then did not feature the Halo rollover protection system or the absence of a windshield. This makes it all the more exciting to see what the first Mercedes of the MYTHOS series will look like.

It should be an interesting presentation. I'll be curious to see how far this "Mythos" car differs in terms of design as well as technology from the current SL/AMG GT series models. But what I am GENUINELY hoping for are timely previews of the future AMG.EA-based AMG Performance cars, the 4 door GT sedan and the sport activity crossover.

Maybe this time they will actually give it a quality interior worthy of the name Mercedes-Benz, instead of the glossy plastic RGB mess from the current SL.

Saying it again, the SL interior is commensurate with it's price point. The likes of Aston DB12's, Bentley GT's etc play in a realm Mercedes is not engaging in with the SL at the moment. But next to the likes of a comparably priced 911 its just fine. Superior is many aspects in fact.

The lack of a windshield on the Mythos makes me wonder how a great many things. Is this just a wank exercise where Mercedes is going to sell a limited handful of vehicles to rich clientele and the vehicle won't be suitable for road use.

The door trim moving inside the door tho. There is no excuse for that.

Which part are you referring to Marcus? The grab handle? All the ones I've sat in have been perfectly solid in this respect, not like the EQ's.

There’s a video somewhere in which the show the inside of the door where the window rolls down, the trim is moving when the window is down.

That's very interesting. I'm going to pay close attention to this next time, but I did not notice anything untoward in terms of build and I've probably spent about 5 days in different SL's cumulatively. Maybe my standards are slipping lol.

I believe he's referring to this bit.
Also there was this...

BTW, don't miss out on the funniest part of that video at 4:44 minute mark.

To me, SL interior is low-class and distasteful due to these factors:
- the place is dominated by screens
- capacitive controls that lack tactility and rely on visual feedback as opposed to muscle memory
- surfaces prone to collecting grime and finger prints
- ambient lighting that makes the car look like a nightclub

Plus there doesn't seem to be much discernible quality difference to an A-class, apart from the amount of leather options.

We could discuss this at length I believe. 🤣

Mr.Pessisim enters the chat:

It will be an SL with a bunch more plastic chrome but without a folding roof.
