I think they will retain the shape they are now - only reason the X2 is a GLA type shape is due to its small wheelbase
Yes that is correct. The longer the wheelbase, the more freedom to offer a more sportier roofline.
If you look at the current X4 there are compromises but with the next generation which you will see shortly. The wheelbase is slightly longer meaning a more flowing and less condensed roofline than the F26.
X2 to offer a similar coupe profile would actually resemble an egg but severely impact passenger headroom.
This is the best option for a smaller wheelbase as seen on the X2 as you can go sportier without compromising packaging.
However an X8 is being investigated and could forgo the Coupe profile for a profile that resembles the X2.
When will the x2 debut @scott!!
I find the short hood more appropriate for a small SUVIt could have been perfect with a more longer front hood
I can't think of many manufacturers who have such a lot of SUV's.X1,X2,X3,X4,X5,X6 and upcoming X7..... And because if the 8 series a probable X8.
Would have been nice if they could aleast make one of these at least off road capable like a Range Rover or G wagon.

Mmmmhmmm, BMW should make an X series
Mercedes will have as many, if not more with the various different G-wagons, and the GLB is still on its way...
I'd quite like to see this... X-Raid Dakar team is run by Sven Quandt - a son of Herbert Quandt. I'd like to see family ties result in a bonkers ****-crazy off-road version of something like the X3 or X4.
