A British company called P&A Wood is offering this version of the Phantom with a modified front. They call it the Phantom Gaines-Wood. What do you think of it?

I think I quite like it. I noticed the mascot is larger than the standard one too.

Personally I think it looks awful compared to the normal version!

Just imagine if Bentley and RR stayed together, this is what the Bentley version may have looked like!

This looks like a step back - in the 20th century.

A Phantom for the people who stuck in 20th century. ;):D

I'm definitely a 21th century guy. So , I prefer the original Phantom. But I prefer the new Seraph even more. :icondrool

Will be presented as 102EX in the next months (Frankfurt 2007, Detroit 2008 or Geneva 2008).

:t-cheers:

I don't mind the modified version. It is less aggressive than the standard version. I wasn't sure about the front of the Phantom when it was first launched but I have grown to like it over time.

under those two round lights on each side is that a LED strip I see or is it just chrome?
I dont like this mod, i personally the front on the original is one of the best parts of the car.

My biggest gripe with the Phantom has always been the front treatment... but I don't think this is the solution. :eusa_thin

that isn't even 20th century
that is VAG's butchery of an interpretation of bentley applied to a rolls
all school rolls royce's at least those from my life time, never had round headlamps

You are forgetting about the Phantom VI and Corniche both produced until 1992 (Vabboud, I'm assuming you are older than 15 years)

Even the Silver Seraph and New Corniche (2000) had enclosed round
headlights.

yep i'm a score of years old
but the general outline of the headlights of the VI is still 2 round headlights enclosed in an elliptical frame
there is a major design difference (for me at least) between 2 distinct roundels, and 2 joined roundeles inside a frame, regardless or not a glass pane covers them ro not

It works fine for me. You get a Phantom, but with a more classic look instead of the modern standard one. So, why not?

The front reminds me of this

This Gaines-Wood conversion is like sticking your grandmother's head onto a supermodel's body, the end result is nasty.

I much prefer the original version - this modification seems like quite a tag-on, especially since the body is so brashly designed and massive. The modified face would have suited a less imposing better much better.

Not bad at all but I'm afraid I will have to give it a thumb down. Although the chronicle also had quad lights they were, unlike the Arnage enclosed. This creation remind me of Bentley which isn't a bad thing since I love the Arnage but on a roller that's wrong. It kills some of it's personality.
