Dave Grohl, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, and a Sharpie. Sounds like a recipe for vandalism, or maybe some impromptu drumming? It's actually the mixture for a $25,000 sofa auctioned off at the MTV European Music Awards in Lisbon. The sofa was originally the back seat of a Rolls Phantom; Grohl and more than 20 other celebrities signed the back seat, which was then removed and turned into a sofa by furniture maker Nick Gutfreund. The Hard Rock Café bought the sofa and donated the proceeds to MTV's Staying Alive Foundation, a group focused on stopping the spread of HIV and AIDS. Also signing the Phantom davenport? The names will bewilder you if you're 40 years old: Anastacia, Black Eyed Peas, Brittany Murphy, Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Craig David, Bob Geldof and Shakira, Akon. Then also, Alison Goldfrapp, Chemical Brothers, Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen), footballer Diego Luna, Foo Fighters, actor Gael Garcia Bernal, Green Day, Formula 1 driver Jenson Button, footballer Luis Figo, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Sugababes, TATU, and the MTV presenters Tim Kash and Trevor Nelson.

I'd buy this seat if I had the means to bid for such a very meaningful cause, though I'm not sure the disease will be eradicated, it means something to those that both live with the disease, and or have lost someone close to them who died of AIDS.

This is clever of Rolls-Royce ...rather than being snobbish like Krystal champagne ..and not wanting to be associated with pop-culture (or Hip Hop in their case), Rolls-Royce knows that it has got a big following in the entertainment world. Since the 1960's, Rolls-Royce has been a favourite brand of the celebrities ....so it's kind of cool they got involved with this.
