Vs RoadAndTrack: Lexus IS350 F-Sport vs BMW 335i M-Sport vs Cadillac ATS vs Q50 Sport

It begs to be noticed....The ZF 8 speed I know for a fact is absolutely amazing....but somehow, BMW has screwed it up. The transmission shifts so slow I could eat a cake and come back and it still wouldn't have finished shifting. The only two cars this seems to effect is the 3 series without the sport transmission and the X5.
all the reviews i have seen yet praise this transmission immensly

Regarding Europe, they get IS250 or IS300h only and that car is a completely different case compared to the IS350 F-Sport and I can understand why it loses every comparison. Both of them are severally underwhelming.

Regarding bias, that is exactly why I had put it forward that the US magazine are much more unbiased. Even a 325i E46 won against another car that outpowered it by almost 100 HP.

How do I know? Well, BMW 3-series never lost a comparo in previous years. Remember the fiasco of BMW E92 M3 being declared the winner over Nissan GTR that had everyone at NAGTROC riled up? Furthermore, Car and driver have put the 3-series on their "10 best list" for the last 20 years straight.

A magazine that has put the 3-series in the "10 best list" consistently for 20 years is suddenly biased when it decides to award the win the Lexus IS suddenly becomes biased in that instant?

Americans are more likely to be fairly unbiased when it comes to European vs Japanese because they don't have a dog in this race. However, Europeans do.

I take by the lack of answer to my question from those championing the Lexus brand my opinion all of Lexus wins were indeed in the US.

Then I'm not that surprised by these results, but over here its never fared nearly as well and neither has its sales which suggests to me that their styling and driving characteristics don't suit the European customer.

I think you are misunderstanding my comments here, I am not doubting the results just that European taste seem to differ to that of Americans, in fact let's forget about the IS model at all for a minute I can't recall at any point where a Lexus has won, it probably has happened but it's that rare an event that I can't recall it. I remember when the brother own one of their first SUVs I think it was called the RX300, it didn't do a single thing wrong but boy was it bland in every single way possible, totally characterless and this has been something I've continued to feel with every model I've driven since, maybe the IS350 F-sport is a different animal but alas I'll never know unless Lexus decide to release it in the UK.

Not sure this is the reason for it, your acceptance of Japanese brands is probably a bigger factor.

I agree with everything you wrote. Typically, I can understand why the RX, ES etc. lose the comparo. The SC was given the worst car of the year by Top Gear. I think they are rightfully so.

However, this is not inconsistent between Europe and America. American magazines have been equally as hard on these cars in comparo, which is what my point was. The IS350 F-Sport (and the GS) won the several comparos because they are radical departure from what typically Lexus puts out.

Sucks to pay a lot of money to enjoy the best from Lexus. You dont need to buy top of the range to enjoy a bmw 3-series.

With the F30, I think you do. If you don't get the M-Sport with DHP Pack, the car is pretty sloppy.
You certainly doesnt need to get 335i to enjoy a F30, what I read here you must get to top of the range to enjoy the Lexus. I doubt a low spec Lexus IS is that bad as someone here claim.

Mainstream + Mass market cars are getting boring actually. I certainly do not want a midsize sedan anymore, I want something different these days. The rest is so boring! A BMW 3er or Audi A4 or any other Lexus IS and C-class is so 'yesterday' that is why I'd rather have a niche product from this segment like a 4er or Lexus coupe, I simply don't want a little (everybody has one) premium midsize sedan. That's me, the buyer they have to deal with. Hence coupe's, crossovers, 4 door coupes, Sport-back's etc. existence...

Just for interest sake, try this out.

What really, really, really, REALLY set these two apart from each other?

And what really, really, really, REALLY differentiates a 3er from a 3er GT? That extra bit of space? Or the marketing to convince buyers like you who think sedans are boring that it's worth the extra money?
