RoadAndTrack: Lexus IS350 F-Sport vs BMW 335i M-Sport vs Cadillac ATS vs Q50 Sport

Impressive result from Lexus. Yet, disappointing mark from Infiniti. By the way, where's C-Class & the A4?

Good question. Not sure why they did not include those. Maybe, they don't compete very well since the C-Class is on its way out?? (and many say an S4 is more of a competitor for the 335).

Don't get me wrong. I really have nothing concrete or hateful against the Lexus, honestly I like it. The styling (weird nose incl.) and the cabin is just 'fresh' in this segment. But from reviews and having driven the IS250, I cant see it really beating the Germans as being that better than any of them, ok I will say I'd rather have it above the A4. Though the F30 is just that little bit or much better at everything and the C-class (as 'old' as the W204 is) is still the better car than the new IS'family IMHO.

Case in point, this is not an IS250. It is an IS350 and an F-Sport on top of it. HUGE difference.

This is the 4th distinct win for the IS350 F-Sport so definitely there is huge merit to it considering the previous generation did poorly in comparisons by the exact same publications.

Good point and more to the point I agree.;) But even based on that merit I would love getting behind the wheel of the IS350 F-Sport and taste for myself.

I am curious now as well. The engine also sounds very nice and the F-Sport variable stiffness dampers can go from comfort to super stiff. LFA gauges is a very nice gimmick.

If IS250 could not win is because of its engine. If the 325i also yet had its NA I6 it would not win either, no matter how good it sounds of feels, the engine is just too lazy compared to new I4 Turbos. With the new turbocharged I4 by Toyota the verdict will very likely change. Problem of the Lexus is it has no LEDs like the BMW. (n)

I think if Lexus can also squeeze out another 20 hp from the same 3.5 liter V6 then it would be perfect.

Saw the new IS driving on the highway the oher day. I liked it, strangely. My cousin thought it was hideous though..

The new IS is turning out to be quite a dynamic tool huh? Interesting!!!

Lexus please! I think it looks stunning and different and fresh. I can see how people might not think it looks good but I think it looks awesome!

I think Lexus has finally put all of its focus and attention on making highly diserable cars.

I saw it in real life and it looks great, I think personally. Very wide and low stance with short overhangs. Also a low beltline.

Funny thing is, it looks TINY in real life (I like small looking cars). I don't know, but it looks very small since the interior is definitely good for 4 6 footers.

Also sat inside one in the dealership and it feels like a fighter jet cockpit inside. Very deep, bolstered seats, low driving position and everything is driver centric. Funny I sat inside an IS-F parked next to it and it felt very dated, bland inside by comparison.

Honestly, it feels like a continuation of my E46 3-series.

I just read the whole test. Same complaints as usual, bad steering, fussy chassi. Only thing they think is the best in this comparison is 335i engine.

But still I pick an estorilblue M335i if I had the choice to choose.

All true. I read that as well and how they sung praises.

However, in all fairness to the other engines in the comparison, very surprisingly they never even mentioned anything about the turbo lag N55 has and the throttle response (or the lack thereof).

Unless I am some sort of a freak who can sense things others can't, the turbo lag is very very noticeable in N55. I noticed how as the rpms climb, the engine did not respond until it hit somewhere close to 2000 rpm where all of sudden there was a surge in torque.

How they never picked up on that, is simply beyond me.
