Report: BMW's next supercar coming in 2013 for $200,000

Yes I mean if they build a "showcase" hybrid version, it's fine, but if that's the "only" variant then screw it.. chances are if someone is spending that much on a car he/she probably won't care about fuel consumption too much.

Simply a showcase vehicle with which to promote BMWs' competence in hybrid technology and the use of lightweight materials.

As the "traditional" internal combustion engine appears to have substantial development reserves that can be exploited (see M-Bs' new MOVE-generation V6 & V8s', the VW-Groups' upcoming 4.0 TSFI V8, the upcoming heavily modified flat 6 Porsche engines due for introduction in the new 911 next year, etc.), I remain hopeful that BMW will eventually offer a more "traditional" supercar. A 2 seat roadster or coupe based on the 5-6-7 series platform matrix, an evolution of BMWs' current 4.4 Biturbo V8 or 6.0 Biturbo V12 under its' long hood. And please-NO retro-styled exercises such as the Z8, but something that suitably transports an evolution of BMWs' current design language.

There was some chatter with regard to BMW developing such an automobile. Perhaps SCOTT27 can drop a hint as to whether such a car remains in the cards.
