Z Series Report: BMW Z4 M Axed!?

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.
There will be a Performance Power Kit option (within Original BMW Performance Parts program) available for E89 Z4 sDrive35i - with a boost to 326PS / 450Nm (430Nm in the case of manual gearbox). Identical to 135i & 335i case.

Coming soon ...

It seems so. I can only write what I heard. About a 326hp-version I heard nothing. :eusa_thin :t-hands: In any case, we will see what the future brings.

@ EnI:
When will the power-kit release?
(confused) Regards

Andreas

"Better"?

How do you define what is "better"? :eusa_doh:

By better I mean faster on straight line and circle. At the end M1 will always be slower than M3 and Z4 M. That M1 E82 is faster than M3 E92 is an exception.

If you ask me, the 1M has pushed the Z4-M off the road. The Z4-M has very much been a niche car, especially the hardtop version which is predominantly driven by hardcore Nurburgring loving enthusiasts. The 1M has a much wider mainstream appeal and renders the Z4-M obsolete. You only need to look at the sales figures for the 135i in comparison to the Z4 with the same engine. The 1er coupe is a goldmine, and along witht he coming M version, BMW will have a blockbuster M line up of the 1M, M3, M5, X6-M and X5-M: All high selling models. The Z4-M simply doesn't fit in.

There could e a Z4 M Roadster. I mean, better that than a 1M Convertible...

How do you know the M1 is faster than the M3?

There are many criteria which make a car "better" than another, and for most people that is not acceleration or ability around a track, both irrelevant in day to day driving. These seem to matter only to people comparing figures down the pub or on Internet forums.
