A3/S3/RS3 [Renders] 2018 Audi A3 gen 4

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
Not a bold change from Audi. A little disappointed they took the current model and just added sharper edges to the lights and grill. It just looks like a facelift and not a new model. I honestly think the current model is more attractive.

Disagree, as you can clearly see, all the proportions are changed everywhere. It's a brand new car like the new Golf.

It's the small things where you can clearly see it, like the different hood shutline near the A pillar and much more '3D' doors with sharper character line.

So clearly the wanted to make an all new car look like the old one, much like the Golf itself. Helps the old A3 more in the second hand market too, as it won't look old for the average Joe.

As for those semi reveal shots...is Audi not going to bother with a 3 door either like all the others (BMW, MB, VW, Renault, etc)? Or is this just the Sportback we're seeing?

This is just my opinion but the current A3, 7 years later still looks really good for its age except for the ridiculous headlights on the face lift. It would be disastrous to have given the new one a radical overhaul like the A class and the 1 series.

In fact the current A3 still looks better than the A Class and 1 Series.

As for the 3 door in the Autocar video they mention that the 3 door has been axed so it's Sportback only.

Wait until you see the final car. The new A1 looked evolutionary with camouflage on. Once I saw S-line trimmed variants on showroom floors I was mighty impressed by how eye catchy the new details and LED graphics makes it look.

I guess this is my feeling lately when I see most Audi's, they seem more like evolutionary but when seeing them undisguised and in the flesh, I start liking them more. I do think the current A3 is still a great looking hatch, especially as a S3 or RS3.

^^
Stunning. The black grille surround works brilliantly. I hope the car will have one as an option.

VAG, all is forgiven (following the disappointing Bacalar). Very nice job.
The new Audi A3 is the most luxurious small car EVER!

Like most new Audi's it lacks some of the class of the previous generation, but will look good/aggressive in S and RS variants with the big front and rear skirts and huge alloys. But theres a lot of unnecessary embellishment which seams like design for the sake of design.

The front headlights with the huge dog tooth look a little ridiculous to me. It would have looked far more sophisticated and serious without it.

I am not liking the interior design either, but it should be the class build and quality benchmark.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
