It is going to be one heck of a good looking estate. Cant wait for this car to arrive. Awesome family car.

This is one saloon that I am excited to see. Volvo are on the up now and judging by the excellent XC90 we could expect great things from this car also.

I wish I was more excited about the S80. The XC90 is so perfect that it's difficult to imagine how the S80 could eclipse it, let alone match it. In fact I'm so won over by the XC90 that I will likely trade in my bimmer for it 18-24 months when prices of certified pre-owned XC90 come down a bit.

The new XC60 is likely the next Volvo that will generate the same interest as the XC90.

Maybe maybe not, they stopped the Rdesign package on the current V70 and never had one for the S80.

That is because the current V70 is now in its "Classic" state and there were never a real S80 R. At least that's my reasoning.

There obviously never were "R" SUV:s (as such a thing is silly), but they are not in "Classic" state.

In Norway you could buy an R-Design XC90. The last ones for sale were here were only R Design. I had a 2009 V70 2.4D R-design, but with the last facelift the R-design model was dropped, odd since almost all of the V70's where I live were R-Design spec.

It's not a track car and FWD can actually be a lot of fun. Go drive a Fiesta ST.

Erm, and that's where the FWD fun starts and ends - with cars like the Fiesta ST. I'm not seeing an S90 owner pulling off a lift-off oversteer slide nor would I expect Volvo's engineers to imbue the S90's suspension tuning with such a propensity towards throttle adjustability.

I remain stuck in my own mental paradigm that large saloons shouldn't be FWD. It's just so - ahem - unbecoming of such upmarket conveyance.
