Yes, Megane hatchback gets replaced by Megan CUV, like Kia Xceed. Soon every car sold will be a CUV. I hope there will still be some sportcuvs, like the Alpine A110 SportsX or Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.

Reportedly it won't replace the new Mégane hatchback but will be sold alongside it.

This is what I think @Levi68:

Looks like Europe is following the U.S model where a BMW M5 gets slapped with a Gas Guzzler Tax, while an X5 M that gets way worse fuel mileage doesn't, because the X5 is considered a truck thus it's a commercial vehicle.

I suspect that the EU adopted the same model where the CO2 emission standards are less rigid for commercial vehicles. And pickups (utes) and SUVs probably fall into the category of "commercial vehicles". So car makers are taking advantage of this and are turning every single hatchback and family sedan into a crossover.

But this is just my theory on why every European hatchback and family sedan is being turned into a crossover.

You're Italian, maybe you can dig further in and confirm if my suspicions of a loophole that benefits SUVs are correct.

It seems the plan is to give the current Megane a considetable FL when the time for a new model comes and extend its life cycle. Pretty much as Porsche is doing with the 718 and Macan.

But there wont't be an entirely new ICE Megane anymore, it seems.

Smaller SUVs' and SACs' do appear to be clearly du jour versus "traditional" hatchback sedans here in Europe. VWs' ID 4 seems to be generating more interest than its' somewhat smaller ID 3 sibling. And Skodas' Enyaq is being met with resounding applause as well.
