It looks like a French Range Rover. A high compliment.

While it indeed does look like a french Range Rover (certainly not a compliment), Renault has done a great job with this. A 7-seater crossover car is the essence of the MPV - it can be used for virtually everything!

As for the interior, I have to agree with Gianclaudio. While Renault did a good job, Peugeot has stepped the game up quite a bit!

I see this as the Mercedes R Class done correctly. I hope it's a huge success, I would have a look but my town no longer has a Renault dealer.

I take my hat off to Renault for altering the MPV sector with this new car as the original was the pioneer and now that SUV's are becoming the new IN thing in cars they have done a brilliant job of incorporating the benefits of both in this car and as a bonus bringing in some much needed style and good looks to the segment. This could be another game changer for Renault.

Initiale Paris epitomizes the art of travel -- Laurens van den Acker. :)

Well if that doesn't tell you something, nothing will. :sneaky:

It's a small town, 26,000 people, not enough to have everything. What we do have is VW, Audi, Skoda, BMW, MINI, Mercedes, Volvo, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Peugeot, Citroen, Kia, Hyundai, Opel. We lost Honda, Renault, Fiat, Saab, and Land Rover in the last few years. And we have dealers for Mercedes, Scania and Volvo trucks.

Did they really, this is pretty similar in concept to the Mercedes R Class and Chrysler Pacifica. I hope it's a success, I've always had a soft spot for the Espace.

That's a lot for just 26 000 people. You must be in the middle of nowhere; eish and no Subaru dealership either - one AWD brand that works so well in your North-of-the-Arctic-Circle-that's-why-I-hate-RWD conditions.

Woops I forgot Suzuki, Ford, Subaru and Mitsubishi. A 30 minute drive gets you to a Nissan and Jeep dealer. It surprises me Subaru isn't that popular, they are also expensive in Norway. I certainly am in the middle of nowhere, the Norwegian West Coast.

I am looking forward to see this next week.

By breaking away from its conventional MPV form to adopt the dynamic lines of a crossover instead, the new Renault Espace exudes unmistakable presence.

Standing at 4.85 metres in length (in both its five and seven-seat forms) and 1.87 metres wide, the new Espace crossover is generously proportioned. Its contained height of 1.68 metres (63 mm lower than the current-generation Espace) and high waist line imbue it with a streamlined stance. This impression is accentuated by the vehicle’s long wheelbase (2.88 metres, 16mm longer than the current Grand Espace) which also provides a more spacious interior. This impression of aerodynamic efficiency is confirmed by the newcomer’s low drag credentials, namely a Cd of 0.30 and a CdA of 0.845 sq. metres.

The new Espace sees Renault introduce two technological advances revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show on a production model.

- Twin Turbo technology for the Energy dCi 160 powerplant: a small, low-inertia turbo is dedicated to performance at low revs, while the second turbo takes over at higher engine speeds. The ample torque is rapidly available to guarantee a driving experience that is smooth and lively, with excellent pick-up.
- Automatic transmission with a new Shift-by-Wire control (a first for Renault), for two of the three engines.

This solution is used in Formula 1 and improves the precision and smoothness of gear changes thanks to better shift management. This transmission also yielded design benefits: the absence of a mechanical link enabled the designers to incorporate such hallmark features as the new Espace’s floating console and compact, aviation-style gear lever.

It looks very good... clean and smooth. Lauren Van Den Acker has brought the design mojo back to Renault, after the master Le Quément retired. Interior looks of high quality, too...the only detail I dislike are the rotating controls for the temperature, instead of rocking buttons
