Re: 3-series Coupe and CC - info from scott26

It doesn't look like any Ford. Ever.

I think the rear lights look great and especially like that Bngle wasn't to excited when he drew them, otherwise they would have turned out crazy like the ones of the 6er and 7er.

:werd:

People can still post the same lame sh!t, incredible!
For one, Bangle didn't design the car. He merely has to give the green light in the end. I expected German car fans to know basic BMW 101 by now, but I guess I was wrong here.
Or, you just wanted to joke about your horrible taste in cars. If so, sorry. Sarcasm is hard to detect these days....

For one, this is not a an all BMW forum and NSL has given us green light to express our opinions.I expected German car fans to know the basics of germancarforum.com, but I guess I was wrong here. People post ugly comments about Porsche and MB cars but I don't have any problems with that since they have the right to express their opinion. So if you have a problem with me posting comments about bimmers then my advise to you is to pack your super mario avtar and move to M5board.com and/or other bmw only niche boards.

there is both Porsche, mercedes owners, some of them are good and some arent. We also have M owners that dont like the new bimmers. Even if most of them are friendly there are always some that dont agree with others. So its not heaven :)

Simply stunning!!!!LOve it ,the shape of those headlamps much much better than current ones imo.If it comes out to look like this i definitely will :eusa_danc

Nice indeed, but that's quite an old PS actually. If i'm not mistaken, this PS came out even before the 3er itself was unveiled (but maybe someone else like Just_me or Tine would have better knowledge about this PS).

It's ok I guess, but rear wheel arches need to be more flared, theres no way that line around the BMW badge and extending up the bonnet will exist, mirrors will be body-coloured like the M5 and M6, and the mouth will be different because it doesn't fully match the rest of the front.

Scott26 is reporting that press announcement of 3er coupe will be out in very late December or early January (more likely).

The Coupe will present new I6 direct injected engines (N53) and the 3.0L twin-turbo with 330HP (N54).

Upgraded DI engines will follow of course in the sedan and touring (in year 2007 = US MY 2008) but the run in phase will be for the coupe.

The Coupe begins pre-production in January with start of production in April 2006.

He also said some guy took a spy pics of unmasked Ultramarine Blue 3er Coupe at a shooting in Glasgow. Spy shots are very likely to appear in magazines and internet very shortly. :eusa_danc

what do you mean about new staright sixes? weren't the brand new I6's launched a year ago in 2.5 liter and 3.0 guise? why so soon for a new variant?

The NG6 project consists of N51-N54 variants:

N52: 2.5L and 3.0L I6 NA engines (the engines now in e.g. 325i & 330i) - basis engine

N53: 2.5L and 3.0L I6 DI NA engines (debute in 3er Coupe) - lower fuel consumption

N54: 3.0L I6 Twin Turbo engine (debute in 3er Coupe) - performance version

N51: 2.5L I6 NA engine for US market only - meets strict SULEV II standard

New models (ala 3er Coupe, Cabrio, X5, etc) will feature the new engines from the start, the existing models will adopt them later in the next MY.
