A lineage of people’s performance cars unlike any other. They built the bandwagon - everyone else just got on it.

Of course the “purer” pic for me would be a G87 M2 next to that gorgeous E30.

It might not have been successful, but there's a pedigree to it... on the grid at Le Mans in 1996 rubbing shoulders with cars like the 911 GT1, Mclaren F1, F40 GTE/LM's and other Japanese icons like the GTR LM and Supra LM.

Mercedes gave Pelé a new 280 S
In 1974, before the World Cup in Germany, Mercedes gave Pelé a brand new 280 S. But the striker also lost it due to a momentary financial crisis caused by his advisers. Mercedes was merciful, tracking down the dilapidated car, which had gone through 18 hands, restoring it and returning it to the Super-Kicker in 2004 for the 35th anniversary of his 1,000th goal.

That blue Mercedes is a 1962 220S. After his 1,000th goal in 1969 he was gifted with a 250 W114 given by Roland Endler, the chairman of FC Bayern Munich at the time. The 280 S was a W116, which oddly enough I can't find pictures of it anywhere.
