Pictures Prototypes from Audi - Secret cars with Four Rings

Car photos, galleries, member uploads, and automotive photography.
This Audi has a lot of Italian influences in its styling. It actually reminds me of the Alfa GTV of the late 90's.

You guys didn't seem to catch the sarcasm in my post.

Got to admit that the Al2 and A2 are cute though.
I agree with you that Audi A2 was a fantastic car, I really liked it a lot, such a pity it didn't take off. It was a revolution for its class, taking a bit of the A-class in its concept but was a much better designed and executed car with a full aluminium body and made this car extremely light weight something like 900kg which was nearly 200kg lighter than the equivalent A-class model.

I agree, although it can't really be compared to the other concepts showed here with its looks, it was unique and looks even quite smart in my eyes. And judging by the reviews I've read, like you said, a fantastic car.

They did sell well back in the day, but I'm not really sure the concept would sell that well today?

In all seriousness, the Quattro has to be my favourite. It's just the aggression and compactness that gets me. Drivetrain sounded interesting as well of course.

Haha, that didn't register as sarcasm to me at all.

For the time, I thought it was interesting and quite surprised it made it into production. It was funky when most designs from Deutshland was stoic and teutonic, which gave it a bit of a cool factor then. And since it was made with aluminum (almost entirely, if I remembered correctly), it made it that much cooler.

These look production ready and both should have been made.

That Quattro Spyder could have transformed Audi's dull image from the '90s.

The Audi Quattro Spyder Concept was received with thundering applause when it was presented on the motor show circuit in 1991. And Audi (VAG) actually very seriously contemplated production. Until corporate bean-counters estimated that a sales price well in excess of some 100K DM would be required to make it a financially viable endeavor.

Audi Auto 2000 from 1981, certainly not one of the nicest concepts but probably previewed the aerodynamic styling of the upcoming 1982 Audi 100.

And then a very weird looking Sport Quattro RS002 Group S concept (1986):

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
