poo-zho or pew-got or pe-jo

Gallardo

ga-lard-o or ga-yard-o or guy-yard-o

Maybach

may-bock or my-bock

Pagani

pa-gan-ee or pa-hon-ee

Citroen

sit-tron or sit-trone

Acura

Re: Pronuciation?

Porsche

poor-sh or poor-sh-ah

The latter, or something along those lines

Audi

ow-dee or ah-dee

The former, I suppose.

Peugeot

poo-zho or pew-got or pe-jo

The 3rd option, probably.

Gallardo

ga-lard-o or ga-yard-o or guy-yard-o

The one in the middle.

Mayboch

may-bock or my-bock

Neither. I don't think there's a 'k' sound in it. I suppose My-bahh or something along those lines.

Pagani

pa-gan-ee or pa-hon-ee

The former.

Citroen

sit-tron or sit-trone

Sit-tro-en.

Acura

ac-ur-ah or ac-rah

The former.

Toureag

tore-eg or twah-regg

The latter.

Countach

coon-tock or coon-tash

The latter.

Actually, how I pronounce them depends on the language I am speaking. :eusa_thin

Regards, Mike from Oulu [oh-loo]. :D

Re: Pronuciation?

Porsche is quite tricky for some non-German speakers I can imagine.

I've heard people pronounce it as Porch / Porsch. :D

In German, we say POR-SHAY (that's about as close as I can say this using a keyboard). :D

Finns - even those who should know better - have the habit of spelling it 'Porche'. :t-banghea

Re: Pronuciation?

Is Maybach not pronounced Bach? ....as in Johann Sebastian Bach.

something like barc-khhhhh (with a quiet khhhh sound)

Re: Pronuciation?

Rob, there's no k, quiet or loud, lol, there's no k.:D

Yes, it's like Bach, May - Bach!

:t-cheers:

Re: Pronuciation?

Maybe it is funny to you because I am trying to translate it into English sounds ...as an English-speaking person would spell it ....I'm not sure.

Re: Pronuciation?

Do you know a little bit of Italian? Do you know how they pronounce two letters GL?

:t-cheers:

Re: Pronuciation?

For those who can read IPA: [ˈmaɪ.baːx]... so there's the velar fricative [x] (NOT to be confused with the letter 'x') in the end...

Sure, I know that Tyc ....but in English there is no sound like ch in Bach.

Maybe a better translation into English would be My-barhhhh (like a quiet k sound in the back of your throat)

A little bit. Maybe my translations into English sounds are just not very clear ....I am not very good at this :)

The ch in German is one of the most difficult things for students of the language to pronounce I've noticed.

I always tell my American friends who are studying German to relax when saying the ch at the end of some words.

I've heard people pronounce Johann Sebastian Bach's name in English and that is how you pronounce the ending of Maybach as well. :usa7uh:

But in other German words like ich (I), dich (You) etc., the ch is pronounced competely differently. And the bad thing is I cannot give you guys an accurate keyboard description of how to pronounce it. :eusa_doh:

It' cool...:usa7uh:

Just fyi, if you know how Italians say for GL, then read Gallardo like that: Ga(GL)ardo...;) It is Spanish word, but that's how they say for it.
