Speaking at this morning's launch of Boxster production in Osnabrück, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller revealed the company will be taking a more cautious approach to future investments.
Noting that sales could fall 5-10 percent below internal targets for 2013, Mueller said the company will reduce spending and look for ways to cut costs. The executive also said Porsche will reduce production and could delay a "project" or two.
Mueller declined to elaborate on what could be delayed, but it would likely be a model that is in the early stages of development. This could mean it is the next-generation Panamera, but nothing is official as of yet.

Cutting costs is bad, but if this is what it takes for Porsche to not go the route of M-B and BMW by eventually expanding their lower-end portfolio so much the "halo/dream car" aspect that Porsche is so well known for, diminishes, and their brand gets diluted to hell, then as a selfish hopefully future 911 owner, I do like hearing that they're putting some new projects on hold.... only if it's one of the aforementioned "lower segment" cars they were talking about (Midsize Sedan, small SUV, etc.).

911, Boxster/Cayman, Cayenne, Panamera, Perfect portfolio to maintain exclusivity-"dream-car" halo and generate enough mass to be an accessible premium brand at the same time.
