I'd go the Porsche the Ferrari is just to much car to be practical, also there's a Porsche service centre not so far from where I live, if I bought the Ferrari it would have to be trucked to Oslo for every service.

No Ford? :arghh::p

As for the crazy choices, devoid of any realism, of course the Ferrari. But in the real world, to actually own/use - the GT4. It is almost everything I want in a car - NA, mid engine, manual, light, not scary powerful. And last but not least, no exotic looks/image, that would make me melt in my own skin, if seen in one.

The GT4 without hesitation. Park them side by side and say "pick one - the Lottery will pay for it but you can't sell it" I'd choose the GT4 every time.

It is the definitive send off for the manual + normally aspirated combo and I will go to my grave driving it every weekend. This has to be a future classic no?

The GT4 for me as well. I love its junior supercar racer looks, the wonderful NA and revvy boxer 6 and 6 speed manual will make this one of THE best drivers car at any price. The Ferrari is a beauty for sure but it is too fast and when can you use all that power on the road? The GT4 has manageable power but it will probably provide even more of a thrill for more than half the price of the 488 GTB.

GT4 hands down.

I don't need anything more than this to be happy.

I am selling my Speciale exactly for the reason you wrote. Hard days to drive a Ferrari around today. I will change the Speciale with a Porsche track car. I was waiting for the Gt4 since I had for several years the 997 Gt3 MkII but I am even waiting for the Rs coming soon. Then I will decide between the two.
So I have to vote, Porsche today..:sorry:
With a Porsche in the past, sometime, I was even going to work in the morning ( to my company, without too much stress). The Ferrari? even many of my friends don't know that I own one...Big difference believe me.

Well me too. I don't need anything more than a Cayman GT4 to be happy either. But it will cost like 100k over here and I can think of car costing almost half that that will make me very happy.
So this being a fantasy internet poll, I am surprised to see the GT4 winning and people being so 'rational' over it. News flash people: this is not the real world! It's ok to vote for the Ferrari!

A Ferrari should excite me. The 488 just doesn't get me going. The GT4 on the other hand...

A Ferrari is likely the only car I would ever take over a Porsche. Especially in this case since these cars are on totally different levels. They're both winners though.

I agree, if we are talking models like GTO, Scuderia or Speciale.. easily a solid investment.

Well lets do this poll again when the new GT2 arrives..Ferrari for me of course. :)

I agree, both cars are winners but in this case I would definitely go for the Ferrari, no question.
Love the Porsche to but the wow factor to me is well below the Ferrari.
Imagine yourself taking the Ferrari 488 GTB on a lunch break or running a small errand. The thrill factor of just being in it`s presence would be very high compared to the Porsche.

The drive experience should be hit as well, even in everyday use.

It`s going to be interesting to see how Porsche responds to the new 488.

This is, in fact, the most off putting thing for me about a Ferrari (besides of course, the fact I can't afford a decent one). I felt like a big douche bag pulling into a lunch place in a Ferrari. My wife was so embarrassed, she actually hid under the dash, acting like she dropped something on the floorboard for a good 2 minutes before emerging. I didn't even wait for her, cause I wanted to get away from the car as soon as possible. It was a mess.

Not a commentary on Ferrari or other Ferrari owners. If you have the personality to pull it off, more power to you. But the attention it gathers, makes it incompatible with my personality. I will still take a Speciale though, even if it means wearing a full face mask everywhere.

I had exactly the same experience when driving a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo, with the exception I didn't have your wife in the passenger seat. You couldn't turn the attention off. Being stared at and the centre of attention was fun at first, but after two days it was deeply annoying.

Ooh, interesting rather informative experiences for the both of you.
Where you live and your personality types are going to play a role on the attention factor if ever you consider owning an exotic. (You are going to get some attention no matter what, especially if you live outside some of the major "money-maker" cities like Beverly Hills where Ferraris and Lambos are pretty common.) Definitely something to consider.
