Vs Porsche Cayenne Vs BMW X5M

Thanks Sayyaaf! Gotta love Germans; fun to watch, even though I don't understand German.

Could our German members translate some key points pretty please...? I'm especially interested to hear what Niki has to say at 5:35 about the X5M's DCT intervention and how it caused an issue for him.

The Cayenne Turbo looks to me, much less twitchy and much more fluid and predictable in its handling over the X5M. Very impressive for a car with 50 horsepower less. Notice how it gets off the line slower than the X5M and yet reels it in down the straight - that's the benefit of 2 extra gears.

I might have thought that the Porsche Cayenne Turbo would have been quicker on a flying lap but never in my wildest dreams would I have placed it ahead of an X5M in a drag race. Who would have thought that the newer ZF with it's 2 extra gears would have made such a difference.

Early morning eye candy, thanks Sayyaaf:t-cheers:

I love both these vehicles, the Porsche being the newer car (and indeed if I had the money right now the Cayenne would have proud place in my garage where the X6 currently sleeps;)) That said the X5 M is a formidable piece of excellent engineering and being heavy + a lack of gears has taken it's toll in this shootout.

Videos may/can be deceiving, but the Cayenne in SPORT + the suspension looks very unforgiving on it's passengers, harsh maybe? And as much as I like the new Cayenne and it's flawless interior, I would ONLY have the Turbo - looks wise the other models looks bland and uninspiring.

On handling - IMO it's a tie, although I think the X5M is just that little bit sharper on the steering side.

Can't speak for the ride quality of the X5M as I haven't sampled one but as you have the X6 then I can tell you this, the ride of the Cayenne in SPORT+ even on it's lowest ride setting is not that bad, in truth it's a bit harder than the brother's X6 was but has a better rebound so it's less bouncy and less inclined to be effected by bumps mid-corner. When ride height is rised to normal, even in SPORT mode the Cayenne actually rides better than the X6. All this on 20" rims.

Thank you indeed for the review there footie:t-cheers:

You really read me and my ride comparison 'need to know':)
