Cayenne Porsche Cayenne (3rd generation)

The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV, and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle.

Again another big weight loss. 250kg - 300kg.
Outside dimensions a little bigger.
More rectangular design.

I like the Macan influenced design. I'm excited if the real car get this design language.

I don't understand the need or market for a Cayenne Coupe now that the Macan is part of their portfolio?

Still considered 2nd generation, in which the renders are referring to

3rd generation: 2017/2018 onwards

^ Agree. A mod should change the title, this is a bit confusing.

This thread is about the facelift of the 2nd generation. At least, the pics in the OP are. Info in the OP is about the 3rd gen..

Autobild presents these pictures as the 3rd generation. The first on looks more like facelift to me but that is what Autobild thinks the 3rd gen Cayenne at the end of 2016 will look like.

Porsche says next-gen Cayenne will be much faster and a lot lighter, will do 300 km/h
Due in 2017
Porsche has released some preliminary details about the next generation Cayenne.

Bentley announced their upcoming Bentayga will be the fastest SUV ever but Porsche has already replied with their 570 HP Cayenne Turbo Scapable of doing 176 mph (286 km/h) and lapping the 'Ring in 7:59.74.

In addition, Porsche R&D chief Wolfgang Hatz told journalists at NAIAS in Detroit the next generation Cayenne scheduled to come out sometime in 2017 is going to be considerably quicker and will hit a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).

Hatz said that even though Bentley's W12-powered Bentayga might have a 2-3 km/h higher top speed, the next-gen Cayenne will be "much quicker on the road." He added the new model will drop "at least" the same percentage of weight as the second-gen Audi Q7 has lost compared to its predecessor. Expected to drop below the 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) mark, the new Cayenne Turbo / Turbo S is going to be powered by a newly developed V8 turbo set to be assembled at a dedicated factory in Stuttgart.

Hatz also mentioned Porsche doesn't plan on adding any other SUVs to its lineup while a Macan with more than six cylinders is not being considered.

The current Porsche Cayenne was only updated for the 2015 model year but a successor has just been spotted in prototype form. The SUV’s exterior is disguised but we can already make out the general shape of this all-new, third-generation model, which appears to have a sleeker look dominated by a longer, flatter roof.

The new Cayenne is due out sometime next year, as a 2018 model, and when it arrives it should offer improved dynamics, fuel efficiency and performance thanks to the SUV version of the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform. The platform made its debut in the 2017 Audi Q7 and in addition to this Cayenne will also appear in the next VW Touareg as well as Lamborghini’s Urus SUV.

The benefits of the platform are lighter weight and improved rigidity, brought about by a combination of high-strength steel, aluminum and even some carbon fiber in the mix. We’re expecting the new Cayenne to weigh as much as 220 pounds less than the current model, which in base trim still weighs in at almost 4,500 lb.

The weight loss of 220 pounds is promising but not impressive enough. It's very difficult to restyle the car in a way which is appealing and true to the brand.

I'm not expecting dramatic changes to the exterior which make me feel better about my plans to buy a certified used facelifted Cayenne Hybrid or Diesel next year.

Design wise the Cayenne will be an evolution, not a revolution as the new Panamera is.
Since it will be based on the MLB platform (new Touareg, current Q7 and Bentayga) it will again not be a full sports SUV. Previous gen Cayenne had a very similar weight distribution to Q7 aka not good.

OMG, that huge overhang :sick::sick: Is it so hard for them to use an rwd platform(panamera's platform)? Jeez, that's fugly. I will never ever buy an fwd platform car.

I'm sure if Porsche had their way it'd be on the MSB platform. They lost that battle with their corporate brothers and sisters so onto the MLB platform it went.

That is sad. It will sell anyway, as usual... But not for me.

Looks like they intend to keep the tradition of an ugly Cayenne.

Well, at least we'll have a new Macan....
