Panamera Porsche announces Panamera with 300-hp V6 starting at $74,400

The Porsche Panamera is a mid to full-sized luxury car (E-segment or F-segment for LWB in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Porsche. The Panamera name, as with the Carrera name, is derived from the Carrera Panamericana race.
I straight away thought that Porsche were using Audis 3.0, but isn't this 3.6 the same used in the previous Q7 before the updated?

Initially I thought it was the same engine but now I'm not so sure. The 3.6 in the Q7 is VR6 while this Porsche engine is a 90-degree V6 according to US market press release, I don't know if they use the same exact engine in other markets... :t-hands:.

Likewise, the brand new 90-degree angle V6 powerplant built at Porsche’s engine plant in Zuffenhausen is approximately 66 lbs. lighter than the Porsche V8 in the Panamera S and 4S.

Another opinion of praise in that article. The Panamera is a major success I see several of them every single day here in London and the same applies to the A5 Sportback. Whoever has been hating on the hatchback should take a moment and rethink their stance on that feature.

What about the A7, have you seen any of them yet as I see about three around here on a regular basis, more in fact than the A5SB. So in my opinion people at this price bracket aren't put off by this styling, well at least in the UK it seems and talking to the Porsche guys they also say the Panamera has proved to be more popular than they thought it would have been.

I have yet to spot an A7 on the roads yet. Design is subjective and I can say that I'm not particularly putt of by the hatchback on either three cars. The dopey rear do the cars a favour in standing out but the biggest advantage brought by the rear design is practicality. I've sat in the back of the gorgeous Aston Martin Rapide and Fisker Karma but I didn't want to sit there for long. They are not the sort of cars you can rely on to transport four people comfortable where as the A5 and Panamera aren't that much different from your average sedan.

There is no doubt that VAG has made a decision against the critics and scored multiple home runs.

Mark my words, the rest of them will follow suit pretty damn quick when they realise they are on to a winner. :t-cheers:

I have driven the V6 version in Porsche road show, although seems a bit underpowered but it felt nimble. We drove the Turbo & S version. I am glad I got the 4S it feels the best of all worlds. For ultimate fun the S would have been my choice, it drifted nicely and it burns rubber easy but the 4S has great straightline take off and still manages to drift nicely.

The Turbo was powerful but I hate turbos right now.

Why the hate for turbo's?

Sayyaaf I now you're Panny has the adaptive air suspension, the past weekend I had a ride as passenger in a Panamera Turbo. Power, handling and pure pleasure in one masterful package! I now know (after much explaining done by Martin and others on suspensions and experiencing the differences) damper rates and rebound rates + setups done by engineers works with the car.
The Panny Turbo's ride is firm in comfort (yet comfortable) and hard in Sport +.
That is the short and long of it:)

The F01 7er has a bit more of a 'softer ride' in comfort, since your father has the 7er I suppose you find the ride between the Panamera and BMW in the same way?

I hate turbo's because of the non linearity in power delivery, even in Panamera turbo lag will always be there. I love NA engines, and the more I drive turbo cars, the more I love NA engines. I drove the turbo and although I loved the sheer power but it does not feel right, its something difficult to describe, my right foot can demonstrate it well :D

Same happened on the track BTW, I absolutely loved the acceleration of the 911 turbo, but when we had few laps, the best cars I liked were 911 C2S and Boxster spyder.

And Yes Human, the suspension can be extremely altered in the Panamera, in Normal or comfort mode, it has floaty feeling and very soft. the throttle has the laziest response and PDK can shift in couple of seconds from gear-to-gear :D hit the Sport+ button and the car turns into an animal, lowest ride hight, very sensitive throttle/brake and ride become hard.

Also in sport+ mode the PDK won't shift beyond 6th gear unless you engage cruise control.

In my car even if I engage sport+ mode and cruise control, it will not shift to 7 gear, it totally disappears. Kinda like an M-button in BMW. The PDK reacts so fast and keep gears as long as its in the range of that gear. Plus, if you try to down shift while you are beyond lower gear, engine will redline just like old good manuals when you reach the cut-off ! I love that !

My best in gear acceleration are 1st 2nd & 3rd. 4th a bit tall but for 140-180 it shines.

What amazed me is that all cars took the abuse from different drivers with no failure during that day, I drifted the Panamera S couple of times, one guy had couple of 180s and the Turbo 911 had like 3x8x4 full accelerations and full braking all day long with zero fading. Tires are gone though
