Introduction will likely occur next year as a MY2010 model.

I am first in line at my dealer for the Mk II 997 GT3 RS. If it is significantly different from my 2007 I will keep both, it the differences are minor I will sell the 2007 RS. I'm thinking about a green one next time.

Happiest day of my life. Was detailing it in the garage the other day (it didn't need it) and told my wife I was having more fun than sex. That didn't go over so well.

Porsche’s 911 line-up is due to be updated over the coming year and in line with the changes a number of prototypes for the different variants have been spotted testing in and around the Nurburgring for the past several months. Several weeks back we saw what is believed to be oficial documents revealing details about the new Carrera and Carrera S models and now we have new video footage of the high-performance GT3 RS track special.

Like the rest of the facelifted 911 range, the new GT3 RS will get the same LED daytime running lights and revised taillights seen on previous test-mules. The car will also sport a cleaner front end with larger intakes in the lower skirt and a new lip spoiler.
The GT3 RS will once again based on the Carrera 4 body and should feature the same widened track, carbon-fiber interior and plastic rear window as the current model. Power levels should receive a slight boost over the current 415hp (302kW) output courtesy of a new direct-injection system. Acceleration times may also be improved if Porsche adds its new Doppelkupplung dual-clutch system, although a conventional six-speed manual is likely to remain the only option.

Our pictures prove that the facelift for the Porsche 911-range, given to the Coupe, Cabrio, Targa and Turbo recently, will soon be available for the high-performance variant, too

We snapped the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the French mountains where it was testing alongside the current model which was released in Europe in October 2006 and in North America in February 2007. It will keep the 'GT3 RS' side sticker and the special coloured wheels, the decorative stripe, contrast-painted outside mirrors, rear wing endplates, and roll cage. The new GT3 RS will keep its top-speed of 311 km/h and a 0-100 time of about 4 seconds using a 415-hp engine.

I'm looking forward to this car a lot. Especially the new engine and what possible modifications Porsche might do to the PDK gear box, not to mention the stupid buttons for gear changing.

It looks pretty close to ready.

2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RS spied

Porsche is slowly making its way up the food-chain for its next-generation 911 range, spied here testing the new 911 GT3 RS in the French mountains alongside the current model.

The 2009 facelift has already been introduced on the Coupe, Cabrio, Targa and most recently Turbo models in the 911 range, seemingly with the GT3 RS being the next to make its official debut.

The facelifted GT3 RS will keep its trademark features such as the “GT3 RS” side stickers, matching coloured wheels and side mirrors, racing stripe, rear wing endplates and roll cage.

From these spy shots we can also see that the new GT3 RS has gained the red seat belts which are becoming an increasingly familiar feature of the range.

Mechanically, the facelifted model is expected to be identical to its predecessor, sharing the same 305kW 3.6-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine.

With only subtle aerodynamic modification, the GT3 RS is expected to maintain its current top-speed of 311km/h and a zero to 100km/h time of around 4 seconds.

Our eCoty 2007 is out testing once again, with a host of revisions from the recently updated 911 Carreras and Targa set to be drafted across to the top end of the 997 range, the trackcar-for-the-road GT3 RS.The 409bhp, 193mph model did enough to beat off the Ferrari Scuderia and Audi R8 little over a year ago, and so it hardly needs much an overhaul.

Changes are likely to amount to tweaked lights and bumpers to make sure its styling matches the rest of the 997 range, while its engine may get direct injection to perk up its performance a little and clean up the emissions, although this will likely be of less importance than on the entry-level cars.

The appearance of PDK, Porsches double-clutch auto, is a possibility although that may not happen until the 998 iteration of the 911, which has already begun testing in preparation for its 2011 unveil. Otherwise, it's business as usual for the GT3 RS, with a polycarbonate rear window, carbon fibre rear wing and GT3 livery and paint hues.

Expect to be able to buy an updated RS from Summer 2009.
