In 1975, a Porsche 917 left the racetrack and set off on an unforgettable journey to Paris. What began as a bold request from Count Rossi became one of the most iconic road trips in Porsche history – and a legacy that still inspires us fifty years on.

The details and sound of the Porsche 963 RSP: a one-of-one vehicle crafted with precision, purpose and detail at every touchpoint.

Watch and listen as this machine comes to life.

Rumor said it's a One-Off car for the Race Team Boss Roger Searle Penske

Wow this is a surprise. Certainly be interested if they will bring out more production cars.

So is it for sale or just a one off for Penske?

If it's a one off for him, very cool. If it's for sale.......I don't know what to think. Maybe a bit cheap to not make a real bespoke hypercar like the other brands have. But on the other hand, this here will terminate anything and everything on the road south of an F1 car..

It is just a one off and it is not really road legal either. Porsche just got a special exception based on limited road use -

The team quickly deemed creating a fully road-homologated version of the 963 impossible. A car like this is just too far divorced from the requirements of street cars, so Porsche would have to alter it to an unrecognizable state to get it homologated. Instead, Porsche would create a one-off that hewed as closely to the race car as possible, and a car that could get special dispensation for very limited road use.

Well well well......

Next subject then please. Peugeot is making road version of its hypercar too for the rich.

Porsche has converted Le Mans racers to street legal car before, the 1997 GT-1. But they made 20 units of this and I believe it was “more” street legal than this new 963.

It’s a modern tribute to that legendary 1975 Porsche 917 road trip to Paris. Pure Porsche history in motion!

Porsche 963 RSP POV at Laguna Seca | Raw Sound (Parade Lap)

The Porsche 963 RSP is essentially a race car that somehow became street legal.

Built from Porsche’s current 963 LMDh prototype, the 963 RSP is a one off hybrid endurance race car modified just enough to drive on public roads. It's still a single seat cockpit, still brutally fast, and still feels every bit like a full race car. Somehow it even has a cup holder.

This run was driven by our good friend and Porsche factory driver Patrick Long, one of the most accomplished Porsche racers of his generation, with class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Daytona, and Sebring.

Our friends at Porsche USA and Tangent Vector invited our team out to Laguna Seca during Car Week 2025 to help capture the 963 RSP in action. This was more of a parade style lap and display run for the crowd during Car Week rather than a full push lap, giving people a chance to see and hear the car out on track.
