what is it that makes it look like the 7 series ...
the dash? ok im not gonna act like im blind .
the I drive? its a style so every german car is gonna have that
what else ? nuthing ...
speaking of exterior design it depends on the taste, if u dont like it then then thats ur problem...
next time dont forget to add IMO cuz others have differant opinions ...

the S-Class all the way i`d vote for the S also even if it was the outgoing model, love everything about it, but the interior looks a little bland, as for the 7 and A8, both are great cars no doubt but still the S rules.

For now, my vote goes to the S-class. The depth of engineering, from what i've read, is superb and the car looks great. But what I'm really waiting to see is Lexus's response this month at the Tokyo Motorshow. They are promising the new LS will shake up the market beyond belief, just like the original back in 1989. But could the LS really be superior to the remarkable new S? Can they really outdo Mercedes at what Mercedes does best? To have both these cars come out within a month of each other will really show what each company is capable of. And if the Lexus comes with all the technology of the S as standard, and Mercedes is going to make them very expensive options...it's going to be interesting, especially if the LS looks any good.

S klasse- best car underneath (no doubt about it) with THE worst design exterior design. The interior, a copy of the 7er, at with the laught/ mucked at first. It is in my eyes the most shamefull thing MB has done in it's history after the use of slave workers during WW II.

Guy, some of the things you say are just so ridiculous. Just say you hate Mercedes and be done with it, that way I'll know not to take you seriously anymore.

Yeah I agree, that comment was absolutely stupid.

It might be stupid to say but you guys shouldnt take it seriously. Its better not to comment it and just ignore it. I bet if it was about 7-serie, MB fans wouldnt bother to answer.
I not I'm not the right person to say this but we should learn to not take it personal when our favorite brand is being bashed. A car is just a thing and not a human. :)

How about repeating that to the original poster. It was not about the cars. The extra comments that don't pertain to any automobiles is what I found to be ridiculous and most of all unwarranted and irrelevant.

I know what you mean but its not a secret that we humans take cars very personal. I still think its best to ignore it although it isnt easy (I have hard time myself).

EDIT: I just saw this, you're right, not a proper thing to say in a carboard.
...slave workers during WW II.

Well, we can't deny (nor should we forget) that the example is true - but the context in which it has been used here is what is objectionable.

S-Class all the way!
The S-Class has been the most successful German excutive car for 40 years!!
Thats not going to change anytime soon!

The S-Class still has that edge, but the Audi and BMW are also rising starts. Ultimately, it's turning out to be a question of taste. Most business S-Classes I see have chauffers while Audi and BMW drivers seem to want to drive themselves.

This is a bit of a 50/50 poll. Im not sure exactly what you want us to decide on.

In terms of which of these cars is the best ? It's got to be the new S-class, simply because it is the newest of them all. We all know that new cars 'should' be better than older ones, so that's the assumption i'm going as I haven't driven or got a ride in any of these cars besides the pre-facelift 7er.

But, looking at the poll from the other point of view, which one would I prefer? It would have to be the 7er.
The A8 is a great looking car, although the rear is starting to get a little boring now, but overall, from what i've read about it's build quality and driving ability, it seems like a very competent vehicle.
The new S ?, well, as i said, i'm assuming it's the best out of the car, especially in gadgetry and so forth, but the styling of the car is not to my liking besides the front. Not a fan of the rear at all, and very disappointed at how the interior mirrors the 7er so much. Ofcourse in terms of luxury, comfort, driving ability the S would also be very accomplished no doubt.

..and finally onto the 7er. It's sheer size is a winner for starters. It's kind of weird though, coz I really like the previous 7er's long, sleek look, but the instant i saw pictures of the E65 7er and it's big size, i was just like "wow...now that is a real eyecatcher!"...and things still haven't changed for me.
Sat in the car many times, played with the I-drive a few times (had no issues with it), and had a couple of rides in it too, and it really is something. But as i said, i havent had a ride in the A8 or S, so can't compare in those terms.

But yeh, in personal preference (say if I won the lottery or something), then I would take the 7er. Facelifted version is just like WOW...!!!! Especially at night time when you see those neon brake lights turn on...!! U feel like bowing down..but then U remember that u still gotta drive your car.

Out of all the cars, I think that the A8 is playing it too safe, the 7 series is playing w/ fire and has already been burned, the S - class is a design that sits somwhere in the middle, but a little closer to the begining than all the way on the edge of overdesign. I think that designers are trying too hard w/ so many of their designs, trying to always be at the forefront rather than refining exsisting and core design elemetns. It's getting to the point where now the only car that really looks like a true European design, is a Volvo, VW, or an Audi. Stick to what you know, don't answer questions that were never asked.

I went for the S Class. Even though I do not like the fender flare (and the black softens the design) I have to think that this car is the leader and will continue as the most popular top of the line sedan.

Because it is the leading seller in this luxury sedan segment, it follows that most if not all of the current S Class owners will eventually migrate to this edition. I know in the US most buyers of the S Class just order the car and wait for delivery when they want to replace their current S. They may make some remarks or ask a few questions but they end up and driving the S.

When the time comes (or the urge) to trade my S430, I now will automatically look at the S as the replacement. I will not look at the A8 (that grille turns me off quick) or the 7 Series (had a Z3 but never liked the sedans.)

If the Audi is going to grab a segment of the luxury sedan market in the US I think they will have to do if from a brand other than MB. Audi is just not thought of as being in that segment here yet (at least in this MB driver's eyes.)

The A8 has the most official and authoritative presence of the three IMO, the S

AUDI has a very clever marketing strategy, at least in Germany. Chancellor Schroeder, a former VAG board of trustees member, was very helpful when AUDI was choosen for representative purposes.

For the state Baden-Wuerttemberg ( the seat is in Stuttgart) AUDI offered
the government secretaries A6 and A8 for an unmatchable lease rate

The DC Management was a little bit upset, when the AUDI offer become public, according to Stuttgarter Zeitung.

Very clever marketing form AUDI indeed, but what could they do else to break the S-Class media domination , than to give away their cars for nothing?
