Panamera/Taycan vibes, especially in side profiles.

...and a wee-bit of the series I Audi A7 as well.

Not that I mind. The series I A7 was and remains perhaps the most beautiful Audi...ever.

What will become of Volvo? Why would anyone buy a future electric S80/S90 if they can buy a stunning Polestar saloon?

Announced a couple hours after Apple's developer conference. Safe to assume all future Volvo's will run off car play.

Good decision by Polestar. Looking forward to the future when car owners can choose between using native apple or Google UI in their cars.

What will become of Volvo? Why would anyone buy a future electric S80/S90 if they can buy a stunning Polestar saloon?

Volvo has hinted that they "will not abandon the sedan/estate segment". This, however, does not really give us any substantial clue as to which sedan/estate segment they will actually occupy. Much indicates that the upcoming BEV sedan/estate will combine both the S/V60 and S/V90 into a single electric model line with a somewhat smaller footprint and lower price than that of the Polestar 5.

Consolidating the S60 and S90 makes sense. I can also forsee rivals merging some of their sedans in the next 5-8 years.

Although not being aware of the exact exterior dimensions of the Polestar 5, I recall having read that Polestar will specifically be targeting the Porsche Panamera demographic. Hence, I'm suspecting a car measuring a bit over 5000mm L, 1960mm W and 1400 mm H.

In any event, it appears to be shaping up very nicely indeed. We all know that the devil lies in the details. But Polestar has been proficient in getting those details very right in the past. That being said, we may be in store for the most visually alluring automobile in the luxury/sport 4 door segment. It will not only capture the glances of those interested in the Taycan/eTron GT and Panamera, but also EQS and i7 shoppers as well.

The Taycan and EQS should be getting their mid-cycle updates by the time this car is produced. I wonder what's in store to keep them competitive. The Polestar 5 is the lone Polestar that's excited me to date.

Sometime in 2023 for the Taycan, I believe. Maybe 2025 for the EQS sedan ?

I believe that the official presentation of the Polestar 5 sedan was initially earmarked for late 2023/early 2024, but that may have been changed in the meantime.

I suppose that the facelifted Taycan will present few if any cosmetic modifications and almost certainly no changes to the sheetmetal. Maybe aprons, skirts and lighting graphics and an expanded selection of rims. Continual OTA updates should be a given.

As for the EQS sedan...I haven't a clue. There appears to be so much in the M-B/AMG pipeline and a slew of new product presentations will probably start to pick up momentum as of sometime next year.

I really want to know the range, power and price of it. Hopefully we hear something about that at Goodwood.

Merely speculation at this stage, granted...:

Power: Base, single e-motor version 445 kW. Top model. dual e-motor version 665 kW. 800 kW architecture/2 speed transmission.

Price: Base version somewhere north of 100K Euros.

Range: Long-range versions over 750 km WLTP.

Somewhat irritating: AutoExpress continues to refer to "around 4.7 meters in length". That cannot be correct, can it ? That would make it 150mm shorter than the current 2 door BMW 8 series coupe/cabriolet. As the wheelbase is speculated to be in close proximity to the 3100mm mark, the Polestar 5 sedans overall length should be in close proximity to 5000mm, perhaps 50-100mm more.
