What are the differences in engine and transmission orientation/configation between a left hand drive vehicle and a right hand drive vehicle of the same year, make, model ,and variant?

I wouldn't have a conclusive answer, but I'm not aware of many examples where there is a difference. Generally where there is, it's because space in the engine bay is tight, and there's no space for the steering linkage on the other side.

Off the top of my head, the Alpina B7 in the UK (all RHD markets?) came as RWD, not AWD, because of this. And I think we missed out one of the early M550 variants because there were too many turbos in the way.
