On this cloudy Sunday Monday I met up with Pekka (Patrick) to experience his new ride: a 2007 Porsche Cayman S.

It was a thrilling experience. This was the first Porsche I would ever experience in action as a passenger. Patrick bought this Cayman S second hand with only 11,900 km on the odometer. It’s been in his possession since Friday, January 16.

So we cruised around for awhile stopping at the Olympiapark Porsche and Volvo dealerships to check out some cars. All the while Patrick kept doing nice starts at stoplights. It was really cool hearing that flat-6 3.4-l engine growl in the back. According to Patrick the fun really starts past 4,000 RPM where the Cayman S changes personalities. Nice.

I especially liked the short Autobahn drive. Patrick brought the Cayman unto the Autobahn in a leisurely manor – and then hammered it. The Cayman S was brutal. The engine behind us was screaming (a beautiful sound) and in no time had we reached 160 km/h. A few seconds later we’re already doing over 200 km/h. At 240 km/h Patrick had to slow down because the Pirelli winter tires he currently has one are “only” rated up to 240 km/h. Nevertheless this short Autobahn spurt provided me some great insight into the Cayman S. I also got to experience its brakes when a BMW 330d Coupe suddenly pulled out in front of us. I also found the Cayman to be quite comfortable. The suspension was quiet and comfortable.

The weather was decent, a little wet but not too cold. The light conditions were ideal I suppose but we never really found a nice place to take some decent pictures (less background distractions etc.) so you guys have to make do with what I have here.

We’ll meet again and this time the pictures are going to be much better. :usa7uh:

haha, for some reason I always thouhght Pekka was one of the BMW insiders. Anyways, nice to see the face behind the avatar and really cool ride. Enjoy it in the best of health :)

He still has his BMW (320d I believe). :usa7uh:

Hey you guys. Many thanks for your congrats! In retrospect I must admit that it was the right choice to go for a Cayman (instead of a 993, Q7 or the upcoming Z4).

Christian, many thanks for taking the first pictures of my car. Hope that we'll meet up soon (in order to have fun at the Nuerburgring).

Actually we should!! I am going this spring (when the weather's a bit better) with a 2007 SLK 55 AMG. It's only 375 km from where I live, so that's a three hour drive.

Sounds good :usa7uh:

What about April / Mai? BTW - Wimmer will also experience the ring. Maybe some other GCF-fellows will drop by?

Let's stay in touch! :t-cheers:

New camera!! Wohhooo…I plan to buy a Nikon D60 or so this year…maybe in spring, we will see… :t-cheers:

That's not a bad camera. It's the successor model to the D40/D40x. A classmate of mine just bought one. It's an improvement over the D40/D40x but if you want to really be well-equipped I recommend going for the D80 or even the D90. The Munich Nikon shop sells the D90 for € 899.00 (body only). With a 105mm lens I believe the price jumps to €999.00. Media Markt sells them for € 899.00 too, body only. ;)

Well, it would be my first real good camera! I don't need a "professional" one at the moment… :usa7uh:
