On this cloudy Sunday Monday I met up with Pekka (Patrick) to experience his new ride: a 2007 Porsche Cayman S.
It was a thrilling experience. This was the first Porsche I would ever experience in action as a passenger. Patrick bought this Cayman S second hand with only 11,900 km on the odometer. It’s been in his possession since Friday, January 16.
So we cruised around for awhile stopping at the Olympiapark Porsche and Volvo dealerships to check out some cars. All the while Patrick kept doing nice starts at stoplights. It was really cool hearing that flat-6 3.4-l engine growl in the back. According to Patrick the fun really starts past 4,000 RPM where the Cayman S changes personalities. Nice.
I especially liked the short Autobahn drive. Patrick brought the Cayman unto the Autobahn in a leisurely manor – and then hammered it. The Cayman S was brutal. The engine behind us was screaming (a beautiful sound) and in no time had we reached 160 km/h. A few seconds later we’re already doing over 200 km/h. At 240 km/h Patrick had to slow down because the Pirelli winter tires he currently has one are “only” rated up to 240 km/h. Nevertheless this short Autobahn spurt provided me some great insight into the Cayman S. I also got to experience its brakes when a BMW 330d Coupe suddenly pulled out in front of us. I also found the Cayman to be quite comfortable. The suspension was quiet and comfortable.
The weather was decent, a little wet but not too cold. The light conditions were ideal I suppose but we never really found a nice place to take some decent pictures (less background distractions etc.) so you guys have to make do with what I have here.
We’ll meet again and this time the pictures are going to be much better.
