What does rwhp stand for!

That's quite amazing, although in that first video the M5 wins, so maybe the guy mucked up the gearing!

HP rating at the wheels (in this case the rear wheels)... that the real horsepower that pushes your car, and not the manufacturer engine output rating we always get, which is measured at the crank.

Oh right, interesting, I wonder why these figures are never talked about, being the useable power!

Because manufacturers want to sell cars, and therefore their marketing teams want to boast the highest possible numbers...

So if we would want to compare cars on useable power, somebody would have to dyno all the cars since manufacturer do not (on purpose) release hp ratings @ the wheels.

It's very easy to get huge HP figures from forced induction. Do the same mods to the M5 that were done to the G35 and things would be different.

Anyone here the M5 driver in the second clip? sh!* that says it all, game over! :eusa_clap :t-hihi:

Don't post this on the Car and Driver forums because the Infiniti trolls will have a field day. :eusa_doh:

Are you sure that manufacturers don't dyno their cars? I am pretty sure they do and that is somewhat absurd to say that they don't.

It is one thing for a manufacturer to not disclose the true HP to the wheels and the other to advertise what it at the crank. I highly doubt that MB, Audi, and BMW don't know what their cars are doing to the wheels.

They need to in order to calculate the difference in so many things concerning the car.

Oh, im sure the car manufacturer's know exactly how much horsepower their respective cars have at the wheel... no doubting that..., but as siko said.. it's a marketing thing.. and solely a marketing thing.
The hp at the wheels is always less than the hp at the crank... so obviously car manufacturers want to advertise the largest possible horsepower output. For example.. the E60 M5 has 507hp at the crank... but to the wheels, it probably has a little under 500hp (that's just for examples sake, i wouldnt have a clue what the true hp for the rear-wheels is) .... so ofcourse the marketing team would use the 500+ figure so that they can show a bigger hp gap to the competition.

:)

I never said they didn't... I only said that they never release the wheel hp figures. Read more carefully please ;)

And the G35 would destroy the M5 with NOS.

Great vid.

Thats not 100% sure. That depend on how strong NOS you have your car :D Besides he already have NOS on his car. The G35 need to go back and install it first, the M5 driver only need to push a button and bye bye ;) Best of all, neither the M5 or G35 need NOS at all to kill the new RS4 ;)

i wonder wich one is more bang for the buck?

the owner of the G35 has spend 50.000 dollars on modification on his car. I bet the M5 has a more reliable engine. :t-hands: Buy a Z06 if you want the most bang for your bucks :D

Your right its not just a turbo kit, from what I know he has almost $50K in upgrades fully built motor with the works, he could run up to 22 PSi but he needs to get it tuned to run that much boost. Mean while he is running 12 PSi at 465 rwhp for street driving and at the track he was running a 119mph with major traction issues....Jay.S
