Wow i like this very much..
But thats cause i like the A5..this is its brother from the same mother..

But priced lower..i would take this over the A5.. it looks super

7-10K euro less than the equall A5..and we have a deal

I could imagine, that it will be even cheaper. Maybe placed between Golf/Jetta and Passat, it could be around 29.000 €…

Don't count on finding it in the bargain basket. The price difference between the A5 Sportback and Passat CC is a mere 5k euro.

Exactly, because they are making this, so far, into a the Jetta coupe. Those are the rumors right now.

It to the A5 Coupe, what the Passat CC is to the A5 Sportback. Price differences should be similar.

It looks pretty much like a Passat derivative to me. The Scirrocco is pretty much the "Jetta/Golf" Coupe.

Polo = A1
Golf = A3
Passat = A4
New Compact Coupe = A5 Coupe
Passat CC = A5 Sportback
Eos = A3 Cabrio
Toureg = Q7
Phaeton = A8

All this does is dilute the AUDI brand image. At least no one can point to BMW or MB saying that "oh, that's just a pricier version of ___." With the AUDI, you can say that. I know i'm gonna get HATED for saying this, but it's VERY reminiscent of people bitching about Lexus or Acura and pointing to Toyota and Honda.

Yep that is true and I think VW/Audi is going to have that relationship forever. Everytime Audi switches design direction VW goes right along and switches also. Yeah the front ends are different now that VW stopped with the big Audi like chrome grille on their upcoming designs, but yes this little coupe does ape the A5. Oh well.

The most telling thing is that it seems to be only Americans and the American market that thinks of an Audi as a fancy VW.

Audi and VW's relationship doesn't seem to hurt their respective images in Europe, or does it?????


BlAtAnT ChEeRiNg: I happen to love the VW AG "Empire" as someone else put it. Look at the brands they have. Look at the designs, interiors etc. The only lusty brands they don't own is Mercedes, BMW, Rolls, Aston-Martin and Ferrari.

Well, Acura used to make good looking models. I loved the Legend, integra, etc. Even the last line-up was pretty good, TSX and TL. It's only the second gen TL and TSX are a bit weird, but that is the grill's fault. The main problem I have with Acura is the fact that they use FWD.

Lexus, while they make bland cars, I won't call all their cars ugly. I won't lie though, it's not like AUDI is free of ugliness, IMO. The Q5 is pretty damn ugly and the A3, while a nice car, fails to ignite any passion in me, hell even the Mazda3 hatch looks miles better to me.

I know it's going to sound arrogant, but I really don't give a damn what people outside the US think. I live here, and my reputation, etc., is built by how people perceive me here. MB is huge here, but is a taxi in other countries, etc. But buy an S-class here and everyone goes all crazy over it.

So, yes, in the US Market, AUDI is seen as a flashier VW with higher prices. It also doesn't help their case that in most places, around my area at least, VW and AUDI are pretty much in the same showroom.

It all depends on what angle you look at a car, but strategically VAG is the best automotive union in the world. There is no cannabalisation what so ever, and all the cars in a perfect hirarchy.

VAG are covering all their bases, and by developing a "cheaper" A5 Coupe, they retain customers who might have looked elsewhere for something cheaper than a A5 Coupe. The objective is to have a car for everyone, and make sure that existing customers wanting to trade up or down, don't need to take their money to another manufacturer.

Further more, VAG does platform sharing quite tastefully. Although Audis and VWs share components, the exterior package is dtrastically different.

I like it. As mentioned by others, there's too much Audi influence on the rear design but overall the car's a nice package.

I'm just afraid that when you add the Golf-style halogen lights and the non-LED rear lights, it will look a lot less impressive...

I think you took my post wrong, I don't care either what people think outside the U.S. either. I was just asking our European members if Audi suffers imagewise from their ties to VW.

Acuras are just the sorry beyond compare to me. They haven't really built anything that appeals to me since the last generation Legend of 1995. Though I did see their new X6 fighter the other day, kinda whizzed by pretty fast so I didn't get a good look at it, but it didn't look bad from what I saw. Yes being all FWD/AWD hurts them and lack of a coupe, convertible or a V8. Its all sedans and suvs, nothing could be more boring IMO.

Well the Corrado was always really a coupe jetta/golf. VW have just brought the Scirocco back to life can't see why not with the Corrado, they were both brilliant cars.

I totally agree that it would be nice to see the Corrado brand resurrected but in a way it kinda has as the Corrado was the replacement for the Scirocco. It might just be me worryin to much and i hope im wrong but with the Eos, Scirocco, and Golf already out there will there be enough room in the market for this as well?

It will most defintly be badge as a Jetta, but even so I'm still for it. Many other people might not buy it because of the name, maybe VW will see this and acutally Badge it as something new OR old?

To me, VW is kind of unique because they give you a German car without the german price tag. I think that VW's brand image suffers from their incredibly bad dealer network (Audi too). Other than that though, I think most Americans would find that VWs are quality automobiles with above par interiors, and unique European styling. So the idea that Audi's image is being diluted by VW's image just doesn't hold up in my view. If they can both fix their dealer network and bring up their reliability scores (not that I think they're a good measure, but most Americans do) I think that both can live happily side by side. This is not a Toyota/Lexus thing. At least not imo.

I hear you on that one, I love Audi as much as anyone else but i doubt i would buy another due to family,friends, and my own experiences with the UK dealer network, the main thoughts that ran through my mind when i used to drop my car off where "will i ever see it again?" and "what will they break while there tryin to fix whats wrong with it?" its like as soon as they sold you the car they really dont care about you till its time to give you an invoice.

really great car can save pennies for it My last thoughts are that vw goes to a veery good way and i can save penny for every model of this concern. The vw cars are relative not expensive but some kind of exclusive and look very good
