Re: New Skoda Superb

So basically it's Subaru front lights, GM/Cadillac front bumper, Jaguar rear lights and Audi interior? :eusa_doh:

The interior is a VW Passat one.
Otherwise it is that, but the sum of all this does not work at all at the rear from the bad pic I saw. The front and interior is okay though.

Re: New Skoda Superb

Can't VW make a decent sedan anymore?:eusa_doh:

First they made the new Passat much worse than the previous one and now this...

At least the interior is really nice (resembling the old A6).

Re: Official Skoda Superb II News Thread

I'm surprised too. I hated the previous generation Passat but I like the current one very much. :usa7uh:

Re: New Skoda Superb

I'm surprised you don't like the current Passat. Why not?

Ιt's not that i hate it or something but the previous model looked more upscale at it's time.
The interior materials are also cheap looking , worse than before.:eusa_thin

I agree with Yanni. I took my mother's previous generation Passat to get serviced yesterday and sat in the current version, and though the current interior has more design flair to it, the materials are not as good and neither is the fit. There were some nice touches in the interior but the little compartments didn't open smoothly, the doors are very akwardly designed with now wood or aluminum trim anywhere.

Re: New Skoda Superb

Interesting. I too liked the old Passat, but I like the new one better. Well the Passat and Jetta are on my list for a 2nd car so I'll be taking a closer look at the Passat in the Spring. I've driven the Jetta already and I loved it, but it may be too small.

Re: Official Skoda Superb II News Thread

I actually think it looks quite sporty from the rear view

Re: Official Skoda Superb II News Thread

How bland, especially the rear. Hyundai Genesis for me any day.

Press Release
ŠKODA AUTO AT THE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW

• New-generation Superb
• Superb 3.6 FSI V6 4x4
• Superb GreenLine

The official presentation of the new-generation Škoda Superb, the Company's medium class car, is going to take place at the 78th Geneva International Motor Show. With a patented Twindoor system, the new Škoda Superb is a powerful combination of an impressive sedan and a smart liftback.

Reflecting the high quality of workmanship delivered to the entire vehicle, the roomy interior offers a large number of smart solutions, as well as large boot space (565 l/1670 l). Generously sized as it was, the interior of the previous generation has now been extended to make the new Superb become one of the roomiest vehicles of its class. As many as 9 airbags prepared to protect the passengers in both the front and the rear seats in the event of an accident are bringing a new standard of safety. Optional equipment levels include bi-xenon headlamps with AFS, a touch-screen navigation system, a parking assistant able to park the vehicle automatically in a line of stationery cars, and more.

The Company's exhibition premieres at the Geneva Motor Show will also include a new Superb with the 3.6 FSI V6 engine (191 kW, 4x4).
The Company is going to present its line of environmentally friendly vehicles at the event, including the Fabia GreenLine and the Octavia MultiFuel, as well as the new Superb GreenLine with the 1.9 TDI PD DPF/77 kW engine (CO2 - 136 g/km).

Skoda’s Superb estate revealed

Czech giant Skoda is set to join the space race with an eagerly anticipated estate based on the huge Superb.

Our exclusive image is the best indication yet of how the new car will look when it’s officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October. Crucially, it’s the first time that Skoda has offered its flagship Superb line-up with a load-lugger.

And our spies caught engineers testing a blue proto-type, which uses the Octavia bodywork to disguise its longer platform and higher roofline. This is the first proof the firm is working on a rival to the Volvo V70.

Inside, the Superb Estate will offer even more load space than the hatch, which has an innovative ‘double opening’ tailgate, as revealed in Issue 1,003. As a result, the newcomer should be one of the class’s largest carriers.

It will be virtually the same length as the standard Superb, measuring around 4,850mm. But because it’s taller and benefits from a revised rear bench, the estate promises far greater load-lugging ability. Drivers will have the choice of six VW-sourced engines: three petrols and three diesels.

Entry-level models get the 105bhp 1.9 TDI oil-burner, while the flagship will take power from a 3.2-litre V6 delivering 260bhp. Five and six-speed gearboxes will be available, although bosses have also hinted that a slick-shifting, six-speed semi-automatic – based on Skoda parent company VW’s DSG transmission – will also be offered shortly after the car is launched.

Speculation has been rife that the marque will introduce a four-wheel-drive version of the latest-generation model, but Skoda has not yet provided official confirmation of this. The Superb Estate is due to go on sale in UK showrooms early next year, and buyers can expect to pay a premium of around £1,500 over the hatchback. That would see the entry-level Classic version start from about £15,500.
