I will be getting a ride in a 991 Turbo S soon. I'll post pics and movies.

Brits and their particular vision of the world.

Sssssh, hey now! Sweaty Bollocks defence force incoming in 3.....2......1.....
Except for Chris Harris, English car press is getting worse ever single day. Sad to see.

I have driven neither the Aston nor the Turbo S, and therefore I am not in a position to question Autocar's, or any other publication's opinion until that happens. Even if I had, why would that make Autocar's opinion "wrong"? It's an opinion and is highly subjective as to which is the best car. People's requirements in a car like this can be different. I personally wouldn't necessarily want the quickest car. Somebody else might. I can see why someone might want a more bespoke car like the Aston over a more mainstream Porsche. If that means putting up with a few flaws then so be it. Who am I to question it?

When will you armchair car enthusiasts realise that you can't just look at cars on paper and decide which is the best. You have to experience them (watching them in videos doesn't count). From what I've heard from a few owners of a 997 Turbo, it is incredibly quick but is just too effortless to make it as fun as it should be. That's THEIR opinion. One guy I knew sold his after a few months because it was ultimately a bit dull. That's an accusation I've heard thrown at the GTR too. A bit too much like a computer game. If it was me, I'd save quite a bit of money and get the 991 GT3.

I really would love to know on what basis people are saying they disagree with the verdict. Autocar have driven the cars. What have YOU done to come to your decisions?

That relic of an Aston is NOT a better car any of the Germans.

I suppose things are different when it comes to sports cars. Cars don't need the newest tech to offer the best driving enjoyment. However I am not sure why the GT3 isn't included on the Top 5 list.

I imagine it's because they don't see the GT3 as competing with these cars as the GT3 is more of a track car rather than competing with the likes of the M6 GC and the 911 Turbo S.

I would think the V12 Vantage S is more of a track car too.

The Aston is sheer old school so I can see why they placed it at #1, but I don't agree with it. No big deal, I'm not a buyer here. I'll leave that up to Sunny and Betty.

Just as I thought about the power... in my opinion, all German 911 TS presscars are over 600 hp. The one that AutoBild Sportscars tested was actually 0.1 s faster to 250 km/h than the 620-hp Ruf 911 Turbo PDK (997) was.

Btw. I'm really surprised that Horst von Saurma was able to match the other testers (Christian Gebhart) 1:08.7 min laptime with the very same testcar. :censored: :p
