:D and she will be very popular with her friends for a while as well. I think it is time to remind your salesperson to keep it as a secret again, they do get forgetful. What is your wife's current car?

Proberly use the car as an excuse for a shopping spree. :D

I have made all my contacts point with the dealer away from home. They contact me on my work phone number and work email. But yes I will remind them next time I speak to a dealer. Thanks for the heads up!

She currently drives a Honda Civic. She wanted it so she got it. She has hated it from the first day she spent with it. That's why I decided I'd choose for her this time.

You have taken a great deal of care, but you can't be too careful.

Regarding build quality and interior trim quality. I think this picture here shows that we can atleast be hopeful that this new Falcon is reletively well put together and with decent enough materials for an Australian built vehicle. Obviously images don't justify real life experience with the cars quality and materials but I am hopeful that Ford have done a decent job with this important aspect of the new Falcon.

The bottons are all in a straight line and match up with there corresponding, surrounding material. Something the old Falcon did not do. Also seems extensive use of soft touch plastic. I hope the botton and knobs have a quality feel when used unlike the cheap feel my old XR8 had...

The road tests for the new Falcon have started to appear all over the net. But the review are too breif and short, so I guess we have to wait for another few weeks before we can get the full on review. So far the XR 6 Turbo is the new Falcon of choice. 0-100km/h in 5.1 sec. That is mightly quick for a car this size.

IMO I dont' think the metallic blue and red looks good on the cars.

Now that is what I am talking about, bright metallic green for the XR6 Turbo. Looks nice, but the cheap looking headlights is a let down. When will Ford put some projector headlights on the new Falcon. Found 3 more small photos, the car looks good from these angles.

Ford officially announced the power output of their new FPV range. They are dam hot looking cars, but the power output for the GT is disappointing. It is only 5 kW more than the F6, and less torque as well. I was expecting more from the V8 engine, but this news is a massive disappointment.

A 310kW turbocharged engine and 315kW V8 hold high hopes for FPV with its new FG Falcon-based line-up.

The power wars have been ignited with Ford Performance Vehicles revealing the engine outputs of its new FPV GT and FPV F6, each based on the new FG Falcon.

In a move to better compete with arch rival HSV, the latest FPV range of high-performance Falcons will each have more than 300kW of power, making them the most powerful - and fastest - Falcons ever.

The new Falcon-based F6 is powered by a turbocharged, 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine delivering 310kW of power. It also has 565Nm of torque, or mid-range pulling power, available from just 1950rpm.

The V8 Falcon GT, Falcon GT-P and new Falcon GT-E are powered by Ford’s 5.4-litre V8, which now produces maximum power of 315kW at 5500rpm, and 551Nm of torque at 4750rpm.

The more powerful engines of the revised and new FPV range are designed to better take the fight to HSV, which will shortly adopt a new 6.2-litre V8. The move by HSV will give its range 317kW, just 2kW more than the rival FPV.

Industry insiders expect that the F6 will become the fastest-accelerating Australian sedan, capable of storming from 0 to 100km/h in well under 5 seconds.

"After months of speculation, we're proud to officially confirm the power figures for our next generation of performance cars," general manager, Ford Performance Vehicles, Rod Barrett said.

"After two years of testing and development we have two new engine variants that will deliver big performance."

The F6's 270kW represents a 40kW boost in power over its predecessor. The extra power was achieved by winding up the turbo boost and strengthening the piston design. The intercooler is now mounted in front of the radiator, and has lower pressure to create better airflow without losing turbo boost, all designed to improve driveability while ensuring strong performance.

Changes to the 5.4-litre 'Boss' V8 involved improving mid-range torque and engine flexibility, in turn improving launch feel and low-end response. “The V8 cars feel lighter and more responsive,” said Mr Barrett.

The turbo six-cylinder will power the Falcon F6 sedan and Falcon F6 ute, and will feature 'F6 310' badging on the side and rear. The F6 models have dropped the Typhoon and Tornado names respectively.

The V8s, which will power the Falcon GT, Falcon GT-P and Falcon GT-E, as well as the Pursuit and Super Pursuit utes, will have minimal badging aside from the Falcon GT and Falcon GT-P, which receive badging on the characteristic bonnet power bulge and engine cover.

The range of new FPV Falcons will go on sale in June 2008.

The G6E looks pretty fantastic, I really don't get why people are saying the new Falcon looks too similar to the old BA/BF.

Ford needs to get rid of those horrible stickers on the GT, the old style stripes work a lot better than the new design.

The Commodore looks dated compare to the Falcon.

It's a nice design no doubt. But it just looks a bit too much like an Accord Euro up front and like a liberty at the back.

You're looking at the next Wheels Car of the Year Btw. ;)

That's nice!

Much nicer looking then the Senator. Have you seen a new Falcon in life yet monster? I have seen a few now and they look very good in person. The G6E Turbo is killer. Looks similar to the E60 5 Series from the side. Very nice design.

Lots of people checking the car out as well at the dealer on my drive to and from work. Hopefully, this will transfer into good sales for Ford Australia...

Yeah, and the old BA/BF rear end has more than a hint of the Liberty as well. Ford should really give the new car a pair of projector style headlights, the current ones looks a bit simple and cheap.

History is going to repeat itself. I remember, back in 2002 the impressive Mazda 6 lost out to the BA Falcon, and the 2008 Car of the year will be the same story, the new impressive Mazda 6 will loose out to the FG Falcon. I do believe FG and the BA/BF Falcons are well engineered cars, but they can't match the japanese for built quality and reliability.
