765LT [Official] Mclaren 765LT

Unveiled on 3 March 2020, the 765LT is a limited (765 units worldwide) version of the 720S and the successor to the 675LT as a Super Series Longtail car, focused on track performance. The M840T engine is now rated at 765 PS (563 kW; 755 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 590 lb⋅ft (800 N⋅m) of torque at 5,500 rpm achieved with a higher-capacity fuel pump, forged aluminium pistons and a three-layer head gasket from the Senna.
I’ve you’ve driven the 720S you know it needs a little more meanness. More edge. Chris bases his reviews on how the car feels by turning everything off (which owners don’t often do), throwing the car into a corner as hard as he can and seeing how well it rotates (which owners don’t do). He tested the 765 on Trofeo R tires, in cold/damp weather at a tight track. Guess what, 750 hp, 2900 pounds and ill suited rubber isn’t going to feel progressive and playful with all the systems off or even on in those conditions.

My car is coming with P zero tires. The dealer told me Trofeos will be undrivable in the damp even. That’s quite an endorsement, huh? I’m not a fan of pirellis at the moment and my car will wear some sort of Michelin race compound in short order.

Maybe it is just me, but I am slightly underwhelmed by this car. It seems like a half way compromise between the 720s and the Senna
That's a bad thing how?

Look on the bright side, however bad Trofeo Rs are in the wet, they're still 10x safer than Cup 2 Rs.

Topgear posted acceleration numbers on their website from their speed week comparison in the latest issue.

Huracan RWD: 0-60mph 3,36s, 60-130mph 6,65s, 100-0mph 83,9m.

911 Turbo S: 0-60mph 2,48s, 60-130mph 6,76s, 100-0mph 79,8m.

F8 Tributo: 0-60mph 2,96s, 60-130mph 5,67s, 100-0mph 82,9m.

765LT: 0-60mph 2,72s, 60-130mph 5,09s, 100-0mph 73,2m. LT also did 0-100mph in 5,08s and 0-120mph in 6,6s.

What do you think, will it be faster than the GT Black Series? I say mid 1:42 laptime...
The 720S did 1:45,5 with Trofeo R which I guess the 765LT aslo will use. The Senna did 1:40,8 also with Trofeo R. I guess The 765LT will do 1:43,00....

I just got to reading the Top Gear article (here for those interested) and I am being left rather unimpressed.

First of all, 0-60mph and 100-0mph times and distances are meaningless if we don't know what tires the cars were on (they only mention the 765LT is on Trofeo Rs) and what the state of the tires was. I can't remember if they had tire info in the original Top Gear Speed Week article (and I can't suddenly access the "scans" section of the site for some reason), but for tests that are purely limited by tire grip, it's sort of a mandatory. Not that I even care about the numbers that much, but if you are gonna do it, then do it properly.

Additionally, they claim that the Huracan has worse 0-60 than the F8 because "its launch control is crude". Well, it might very well be that the majority of the calibration time was spent on the AWD model and so the launch control on the RWD isn't perfect, but knowing how fast the AWD version is to 60, the system almost certainly is not crude, and I am not sure how they can claim with certainty that's the case when it can be 100 other things that make the Huracan's time slower. Like tires.

Finally, when discussing how the 765LT is so fast they state that "it’s torque that gives you acceleration" and then they compare engine torque figures. That's not how it works and I would hope that motor journalists would know better. Yes, torque gives you acceleration, but that's wheel torque. Engine torque is completely irrelevant (for determining acceleration numbers) because you don't know how much it's being multiplied by the gearbox. It could be 10x or it could be 20x. Power is what is used to compare cars because power includes engine RPM and so, in effect, takes gearing into account.

The 720S did 1:45,5 with Trofeo R which I guess the 765LT aslo will use. The Senna did 1:40,8 also with Trofeo R. I guess The 765LT will do 1:43,00....

I'll be surprised if it does 1:43.xx as the Trofeo R, compared to Cup 2 R, has been proven to be a slower tyre.

5.08 seconds to 100 with no roll out is nutso for a RWD Drive. Has to be the quickest 60-100 time I’ve ever seen printed.

I think it won't be faster than 1:44-1:44.5 around HHR. :)
Yes 720S Track Pack did 1:45,5. I think it will be at least 2 seconds faster, high 1:42 laptime should be possible...

Tracktest in the new Sport Auto:

Laptime Hockenheim GP: 1:46,2 min
(Driver: Christian Gebhardt, conditions: air: 20°C, track: 22°C)
Tires: Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R
Weight: 1404 kg

Comments from Gebhardt: A lot of oversteer, lack of grip and stability, therefore even slower than 720S Track Pack with Trofeo's
They also tested the 620R, which had a lot of understeer and was 0,5s slower than 600LT (1:49,4 min)

Other laptimes:
1:40,8...McLaren Senna (Trofeo R)
1:43,3...Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (Cup 2 R)
