McLaren officially reveals 650S Limited Edition

Only 50 examples to be produced
McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has unveiled the 650S Limited Edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR taking victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The supercar manufacturer explains the special model draws inspiration from the race-winning Chassis #01 F1 GTR, so it features a roof snorkel and small fender vents at the front. The MSO division has also equipped the vehicle with unique forged wheels, orange brake calipers, carbon fiber splitter, rear bumper and rear diffusor. The machine is finished in MSO special dark blue color.

No mechanical changes have been made. The 650S Limited Edition is still powered by a 650 HP (478 kW) V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine. The coupe needs three seconds to do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and can cover the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) acceleration in 8.4 seconds.

Only 50 examples of the Limited Edition will be produced with all of them being coupes.

McLaren confirms more potent 650S due in Geneva, could be called 675 LT
To be 'more powerful and track-focused'
McLaren has confirmed a rumor which indicated a more potent variant of the 650S Coupe is in the works.

Described as being "more powerful and track-focused" than the 650S Coupe, McLaren's new version of the supercar will premiere in March at the Geneva Motor Show and is expected to pay homage to the 1997 F1 GTR "Long Tail." This presumption is being made by judging the attached official teaser image showing a camouflaged prototype featuring an elongated rear end.

It's also visually distinguishable by the new side air intakes positioned low while the rumored "675 LT" name means the twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine will be upgraded to 675 HP (496 kW). Aside from the extra punch, the hotter version is expected to drop 100 kg (220 lbs) and it is believed production will be capped at 250 units.

Later this year, a track-only version could be launched as a more powerful alternative to the 650S Sprint.

Let me be sincere...Not only I don't like the quality and the sense of this video , but as a Ferrari addicted, to see Alonso doing those things, when just yesterday he was dressing in "red"...,uhaooo... makes me so sad...What humans can do for money sounds really incredible.. To see his face...his happiness, his actor's qualities....what a pity. But don't call me ingenuous...I am simply sad. Sorry...

Was a Volcano Yellow 650S Coupe
McLaren has announced they have built the 5,000th Super Series model.

Commissioned by a customer in Australia, the 5,000th model was a Volcano Yellow 650S Coupe that was celebrated during a special ceremony where it was joined by the first production MP4-12C.

In a statement McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt said "McLaren has come a long way in four short years. The completion of the 5,000th vehicle in the Super Series [line] is a fantastic milestone for the brand." He went on to say "The 12C was, and still is, a groundbreaking supercar and, true to the values of McLaren, we have continued to develop and build on this great product into the 650S which has delighted our customers and won countless awards across the world."

McLaren 675LT leaked
Will have 675 HP & 700 Nm

An official image of the McLaren 675LT has surfaced the web ahead of the model’s imminent reveal.

Featuring a heavily redesigned rear end, the McLaren 675LT represents a throwback to the 1997 F1 GTR Long Tail and this new body has increased downforce by 40 percent compared to the 650S Coupe. The model has gained a titanium exhaust system with two circular pipes going through the exposed bodywork and located below the revised airbrake. Also noticeable are the vented rear fenders, different diffuser, fresh alloy wheels with orange brake calipers while the side vents appear to be modified as well. In addition, the side skirts seems to host extra vents although we will have to wait for higher resolution images to see if this is true.

Power comes from an uprated twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine with 675 HP (497 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque so it’s 25 HP & 22 Nm more powerful than the 650S. Weight should also go down a little bit from the 1,330 kg (2,932 lbs) of the 650S Coupe.

The McLaren 675LT will make its public debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show and will be sold exclusively as a coupe.

Why name it after the F1 Long Tail, that was the ugliest version of the F1 produced, I think only one was built as a road going vehicle.

I think it won't be lighter than cayman GT4 : cause weights claimed by Porsche are DIN (1340Kg) or UE (1415Kg) whereas those of McLaren are dry ;)

Which one sounds better--not louder, but better
