LX [Official] Lexus LX 570

It lacks the panache of Range Rovers, but I'd take it knowing it's reliable as they come.

it lacks maaaaany things.

What i hate most about this car is that it has ZERO personality. Not a good offroader, not a good cruiser, not a performer actually its not good at anything except being relatively reliable.

I can definitely believe it not being a good performer (compared to most modern V8's in this class, it's weak and guzzler) and I can believe it lacks the on-road refinement of its competitor. But I thought it's one of the better off-roaders this side of a G-wagen.

I off roaded that sucker many many times and the logic is all messed up with the diffs, gearing and even the traction control. V6 land cruisers which are based on the same chassis are much more nimble in the soft sand.

My analysis were the following: weight, shorter suspension travel and bad gearing (low box is too fast, high gears are too tall). on 15 PSI my nissan & FJ cruiser used to carry speed on very soft sand no issues. The lexus loved to dig its own grave.

BTW we lost a piston in one of camping trips during the weekends. Car started smoking heavily. The owner said he suspected bad oil which I doubt was the main cause. So engine got rebuilt below 100K Km.

the current modern off road king is the nissan I believe. That car has the best gears/diffs/traction system I've ever used. FJ is good due its lighter weight. But lack of torque sometimes could be an issue since you will be revving to the moon if tire pressure is not set right.

I am seriously not a big fan of this Lexus or its Landcruiser twin, they look ungainly and too top heavy. The way the locals drive them here they think they are driving sports cars.

Hehehe yes I am in Qatar and these cars are extremely popular here I would say that they are probably amongst the best selling cars here despite their high cost. The locals drive them extremely fast (180km/h or higher) on the freeways and own the fastlane and then tailgate the people to get out the way. Then going in the round abouts they underestimate the high center of gravity and I have seen many of these vehicles on 2 wheels or even totally crashed outside the roundabout!!!:banghead:

Police have been fighting this phenomena for years and with strict laws (black points system, jailtime and even vehicle confiscation). They built tracks for such stunts but they still prefer public roads.

They even have forums to organize those events on public roads with all support required (spare parts, tires ... etc)

Al Ain 2009 and a roundabout. Heard tire squeal and then the sound of metal against asphalt, my brother in law said let's go check it out. Jip! VX200 Cruiser lying on it's side:D

lol I am ashamed to say that is a regular sight in AlAin. AUH is kinda more strict.

That convertible Lexus wont sell in the Middle East cause its too f@[ken hot (dont think the Shaiks want to travel top down under the 45degC sun now this time of year) and also sand storms will rip that roof off LMAoff!:bag::angryfire
