Huracán [2014-2024] [Official] Lamborghini Huracan STO

The Lamborghini Huracán is a sports car manufactured by Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini replacing the previous V10 offering, the Gallardo. The Huracán was revealed online in December 2013, making its worldwide debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show and was released in the market in the second quarter of 2014.
The SF90 lap was done on standard Cup 2s though, not Rs.

Looking at the peak g-forces it's pretty clear why the STO was slower, it's the tyres again. AWD probably would have made it faster than it is though.
Wasn't the STO in the test provided with the track variant of the Bridgestone tire? Looks like the press car so I would think it would be. And if it was, then it's the same thing we already discussed - if the tire, that they got specifically so it would be faster than the Trofeo R they had used before, isn't fast enough, they only have themselves to blame.

Wow the GT BS track time is 2sec quicker than the GT3 and 3sec quicker than the STO. All 3 are amazing machines.

Yes, it used Bridgestone Potenza Race which is supposed to be the grippier variant….

No, the SF90 also used Cup 2 R tyres.
The article says Cup 2s.

Hmmm, seems you are right, sorry. I had noted Cup 2 R used for this test, but cant remember where I read this. I have gone over the test text but don’t find any more mentioning of tyres used, so seems they used normal Cup 2 like you say.

There are two trademakrs made by Lamborghini for the Huracan recently, hinting at two new models:

1. Production version of Huracan Sterrato (offroad version of Huracan concept from a few years back)
2. Huracan Tecnica (paint/livery spesial, like on the last models of Gallardo)

If you read the Quattroruote test, pag 114, you can see they used Fiorano Package, so Cup 2 R, as you can see at pag 110

So does the text explicitly says it uses Cup 2 R? Because the Cup 2 R are not standard tyres on Fiorano pack, the Cup 2 are standard and Cup 2 R optional.

However Quattroruote said that Porsche GT 3 with Cup 2 non R is 2 seconds slower in Vaiarano pro track

If you read pag 110, they say Assetto Fiorano comprehends Cup 2 R

Yeah, when translating the text it seems they say that the Fiorano pack is completed with Lexan back window and Cup 2 R tyres. Don’t know if they mean that these tyres are part of the pack (which they aren’t) or not. Anyway I think we can conclude that the testcar was on Cup 2 R. Thanks for the clarification.

Respect to him. One of the most underrated auto journalist. He reviews every car in a nuanced way. I'm baffled by how he doesn't stumble on his words during one takes!
I can't say that I am a great fan of his personality, but his reviews indeed are decent. The main thing that I like, though, is that he is giving you an uninterrupted take of how the car actually drives - the way you would wanna drive it and on the roads you would wanna drive it on. This gives you a lot of additional information you'd otherwise be missing or that might get lost in translation.

Also, since we are on the subject, at some places he's been criticized for "driving too fast" - which I think is ridiculous. I have watched a fair share of his videos and never once have I seen him driving in a dangerous way. Most of the time it's some near deserted canyon road and even then he always properly slows down when approaching blind corners, never drifts the car and generally is reasonably careful. Is he driving way above the speed limit? Yes, no doubt, but that personally doesn't bother me in the slightest.
