Just the Facts:

The successor to the 599 GTB Fiorano is being billed by the factory as "the fastest Ferrari ever built' — that is, until the arrival later this year of its 920-horsepower Enzo successor.
Ferrari says the F12berlinetta features an "innovative design that redefines classic themes along with extreme aerodynamics."
The car's naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 makes 730 hp and 509 pound-feet of torque.

MARANELLO, Italy — The new F12berlinetta, the successor to the 599 GTB Fiorano, is being billed by the factory as "the fastest Ferrari ever built" — that is, until the arrival later this year of the 920-horsepower F70 Enzo successor.

Ferrari says the Pininfarina-penned front-engine coupe, which makes its public debut next week at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, features an "innovative design that redefines classic themes along with extreme aerodynamics."

Powering the F12berlinetta is a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 that makes 730 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque. Mated to Ferrari's F1 dual-clutch automatic transmission, the 12-cylinder powers the car to a top speed of 211 mph. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes a mere 3.1 seconds, with 0-200 km/h reached in 8.5 seconds.

Ferrari said the new engine also boasts considerably better fuel economy, averaging 16 mpg on the European driving cycle.

Designed in collaboration with the Ferrari Styling Center and Scaglietti, the F12berlinetta features a lightweight spaceframe chassis and bodyshell constructed of 12 different alloys, some of which have never been used before on a car, according to Ferrari. The result is a car that is more rigid and lighter than its predecessor.

The F12berlinetta boasts an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.299, with such aerodynamic details as an "aero bridge" that uses the hood to generate downforce by channeling air away from the upper part of the car, as well as an active brake cooling system that opens guide vanes to the brake cooling ducts at high temperatures.

The new two-seater has a shorter wheelbase than the 599 GTB Fiorano, with the engine, seats and instrument panel sitting lower in the chassis. Ferrari also revamped the rear suspension and gearbox, resulting in a more compact rear end.

Ferrari has fitted the latest-generation carbon-ceramic brakes (CCM3) and a revised magnetorheological suspension control system (SCM-E), as well as fully integrated E-Diff, ESP Premium and F1-Trac systems. The revamped hardware provides the F12berlinetta with increased cornering speed and reduced stopping distances.

The Geneva show car is finished in a new Rosso Berlinetta three-layer paint, with a Frau leather cockpit trimmed in carbon fiber and aluminum.

Inside Line says: Stunning design and performance — just what we expected.

I had a long time to experience love at first sight. And this was just the case with the F12. I am simply stunned!

It`s awesome, love the styling and the name!
The only thing I really don`t like is the headlights.

Engine specs are simply incredible.

Ach nein! Front and profile looked so promising. Will Ferrari ever get it right?

Been staring at the official pics for about 20 minutes and read over the specs and details so let me get the negative stuff out of the way....

On the rear, I don't really like that light on the bottom. While my disdain for lights on or below rear bumpers is well-documented, that's not the only reason I'm not fond of it. It just looks tacked as an after-thought.

IMO, they could of executed one of two ways....1) Have the body-colored "waterfall" area terminate earlier and have that lower black valance area continue uninterrupted, and then tack on those lights. This way it looks more akin to the lights of the F1 race cars it's trying to emulate. Or 2) Continue the body-colored waterfall feature, but in lieu of those lights, have the exhaust integrated there. This may lead to the waterfall to be widened somewhat to accomodate the exhausts. However, that would help widen the venturi channels on the side since there are no exhausts on the side. I would then have the reverse lights integrated in the iconic rear lights. Now if the designers were to do that, there may be that criticism of repeating oneself since the Italia has its exhaust center-mounted. It goes without saying, I've given this some thought. :D

The other thing I'm not overly crazy about are the headlights. I wish the headlight units were a bit smaller and more differentiated from the FF. I can tell after staring at it that they are, in fact, different from the FF, but they are too similar.

Now that I've got bad stuff out of the way. Everything else is utterly, utterly brilliant. From the earlier renders and clay model, I was rather nervous how this would turn out. But it looks great. The front projects the proper amount of aggression that doesn't belie the grace that all Ferraris should exhibit. The side profile lines are not distracting and are aerodynamically functional. Nice rear haunches. And the lines on the rear are well-resolute. And the specs a just fantastic. I'm impressed with the packaging, weight and the how the engineers were determined to master the car's COG. The power and performance are just ridiculous. Interior looks great as with any modern Ferrari. Also I'm glad they brought back "Berlinetta"....the purported "F620 GT" sounded too boring and technical. Ferrari car names ought to have a bit of flair.

The only other complaint I have (besides that rear light) are the lack of official pics. There's no underhood shot or overhead shot of the car. I want pictures from every angle, damnit! :D

Takes a Ferrari to bring this community together on styling....

What is not to love? The rear looks a little iffy in the pics, but, I bet, in the metal with all those contours it will look good. The interior is again brilliant - simple and driver focused - everything you need and nothing you don't, especially compared to the clumsy bulky interior of the Aventador.

IMO it looks better than the 458 Italia.

I agree. Nevertheless the 458 is attractive but from a design aspect the F12 is beautifully sculptured GT with firm lines like the 599 and the 550 which was an absolute charmer in Bad Boys II. Ferrari have made this car rather special and it doesn't look like a typical run of the mill Ferrari but it has a sense of 8C and Zagato about it.

PS The engine is awesome too ;)

I haven't been reading this thread properly yet, but I just wanted to say that that light makes me think of F1 an awful lot! It has probably been mentioned already, but I think it's a sweet detail!

Absolutely LOVE the looks of this Ferrari. Just stunning and magnificent :D:D
And the specs are of course to die for. The bar has been raised...

Love the new design direction Ferrari is going at. Makes me wonder, what were they thinking with the f430...

If they thought "lets make one of the most beautiful cars ever made", then it's safe to say they succeeded brilliantly!!

But that's just me ;)
I wonder what they hell they were thinking in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s. Smoking some good stuff back then, for sure!

I love everything about it and dislike nothing. Damn, I've just been drinking in the lines and details of this thing. It completely moves the game on in a way that I was certain at the time would be an insurmountable task following the 599 GTO. But they did just that. Incredible.

Specifications are immense and it renders the Aventador - carbon fibre construction aside - obsolete in an instant. I like how Ferrari have managed to create something altogether fresh and yet somehow infuse it with its predecessor's DNA and even pay a bit of hommage to the 550 Maranello. And I just love the fact that "smiley mischief face" is still part of the styling mix.

The word epic doesn't do justice to this car. Epochal.
