DS 5 [Official] Citroen DS5

The DS 5 is a subcompact executive hatchback which was designed and developed by the Citroën, and launched in the market in Europe in November 2011. It was the third model in the premium sub brand DS. Released as the Citroën DS5, the car was relaunched as the DS 5 in 2015, following Citroën's decision to rebadge its DS models and market them under the brand DS.
I expect the next in the DS Line to be an SUV-Coupé-ish crossover thingy - oh hang on - isn't that what the DS4 is already? ;)

im just waiting for 4d coupe ;) in my opinion the ds line should only consist of this niche cars like coupe-suv, 4d coupe, coupe-combi etc;) and some supercar :) citroen can do this ;) not another C4-like...

I am waiting for a proper rear suspension. Years ago, french hatchbacks used to have a massively fun way of handling. It's amazing how tail-happy the first generation Clio, the Peugeot 106 and 306 Rallye and the Citroen Saxo were. But now, the torsion beam alongside the tons of electronic stability systems is killing all the fun.

Changes limited to the front fascia
Spy photos show Citroën is preparing a minor facelift for the DS5 premium hatchback.

The stylish DS5 came out in 2011 when it was unveiled in China at Auto Shanghai and it seems it will receive a minor nip and tuck to keep the model fresh. Spotted testing in southern Europe, the prototype was probably a China-spec model judging by the lettering on the tailgate while all the camouflage was on the front fascia. It's either an early prototype not carrying all forthcoming cosmetic changes or the visual tweaks will be limited to a new front bumper, grille and air intakes.

Despite the DS5 moniker, the model isn't based on the C5 as it actually uses PSA's PF2 platform which has also underpinned the DS4. While the C5 has an independent multi-link rear suspension, the DS5 comes with a torsion beam configuration on all versions except for the Hybrid4 which gets the multi-link rear axle.

Engine options will likely carry over so expect a THP 200 gasoline motor along with several turbodiesels such as the e-HDi 115, BlueHDi 120, HDi 160 and BlueHDi 180. Depending on engine choice, the DS5 can be had with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic or an ETG6 gearbox. There's also the aforementioned Hybrid4 range-topping hybrid diesel version combining a 163 PS 2.0-liter diesel with a 37 PS electric motor that powers the rear axle and grants a 200 PS four-wheel drive setup.

An official launch of the Citroën DS5 facelift could occur in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show.

To debut in Geneva next year
The facelifted DS5 has been caught on camera virtually undisguised.

auto.sohu.com team has published a fully revealing photo of the model that shows the front end has been completely redesigned. Gone is the Citroen logo that has been replaced by a chrome DS symbol. The front bumper is also changed and benefits from larger U-shaped chrome decorative lines, while the headlights remain the unchanged.

The engine range will likely be carried over, which means a THP 200 gasoline motor along with the e-HDi 115, BlueHDi 120, HDi 160 and BlueHDi 180 will be offered. An official debut for the model is expected during the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.

2015 DS5 facelift officially unveiled
Arriving next month in Geneva
The DS5 facelift has made its online debut ahead of its first public appearance scheduled for early next month at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show where it will bring a new Ink Blue paint.

The refreshed French premium hatchback has received a fresh face featuring a more sculpted grille with the DS monogram in the center and flanked by xenon LED headlights sourced from the facelifted DS3. The side profile shows a slender chrome sabre joining the tip of the headlights with the front window. At the back of the car there are mildly revised taillights and dual chrome exhaust tips incorporated in the bumper.

Stepping inside the cabin, there's a new color touchdrive interface which has eliminated 12 physical buttons to enable a less cluttered layout. The system benefits from Mirror Screen technology which means that smartphone content can be "copied" on the touchscreen display. Other goodies offered include massaging front seats with memory function, heated side mirrors, keyless entry & start, ambient lighting, electrochrome interior mirror, Denon audio system and dual-zone AC system.

The DS5 facelift has also gained a blind spot monitoring system offered alongside an array of safety systems like lane departure warning, automatic high beam function for the headlights, intelligent traction control, head-up display, reversing camera, hill-start assist, adaptive headlights and stability control, just to name a few.

In terms of engines, the facelifted DS5 will be available with the latest PSA motors, including a THP 165 with 165 HP (121 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque sent to the wheels through an updated six-speed automatic transmission. Also available is a BlueHDi 120 delivering 120 HP (88 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) through a standard six-speed manual or the aforementioned six-speed auto (optional). A beefier BlueHDi 180 with 180 HP (133 kW) & 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) is also available with the six-speed auto while the hybrid all-wheel drive diesel model has been carried over with a 163 HP 2.0-liter turbodiesel working with a 37 HP electric motor.

The DS5 facelift will be unveiled to the public on March 3 during the first press day of the Geneva Motor Show.

That hockey stick looking chrome strip from headlights to window looks a bit strange, but otherwise not a bad looking car. I like the unusual pattern on the seats, reminds me of a metal hinged watch strap.

Ok I am off topic here but I am glad I am not the only person that thinks the old (smaller Audi grill with seperate lower intake) look better than the latest (for last 10years or so) huge open mouth grill.

Hmm, I am not feeling it, but you gotta give it to Citroen for trying!

DS 1955 special editions

Citroen is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the original DS by launching special editions of the DS 3 / DS 3 Cabrio, DS 4 and DS 5.

Simply dubbed 1955, the special editions will be unveiled next week and apparently feature a dark blue exterior with black mirrors and special alloy wheels.

The company didn't have much to say about the models but confirmed they will be offered in "all markets." DS also said production will be limited to 1955 units of the DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio, 955 units of the DS 4 and 955 units of the DS 5.

In a statement, DS CEO Yves Bonnefont said “To build today's DS brand we draw inspiration from the exceptional heritage of this legendary car, and take up the values it conveyed, of innovation, excellence and avant-garde design. Specifically, today's DS models excel in refinement, quality materials, and outstanding style, technology, comfort and performance.”
