Cadillac CT5 [Official] Cadillac CT5

The Cadillac CT5 is a mid-size luxury car manufactured and marketed by General Motors under the Cadillac brand since 2019. It is the replacement for the Cadillac CTS.
Largely generic inside and out and situated in the eve of the featured technologys' era. Within the next 3-4 years time, it may well be rendered "forgettable" and simply fade into the catacombs inhabited by "cars that never really quite were".

Yeah, in three years time, we'll see some idiot from Jalopnik posting an article on why this car was treated unfairly by the market and all that nonsense that people use to justify forgettable cars.

All that power and still needs almost four seconds to hit 96 km/h? That's not impressive. And it looks like shit.

AWD might have helped with getting all that power to the ground. Not bad, but, in general, this class of cars (the mid-exec rocket-type cars) are losing that luster they once held with me.

Funny, but we both know that I was talking about the segment.
Lets laugh when this car rapes the M3/C63. Oh but that C-pillar....

Yeah it's hilarious the Cadillac has been reduced to such a pathetic state, that they have to move their cars down a segment so they can go after smaller targets because they couldn't compete head on. Truth is even 668hp this car would have been no faster or not even as fast as the most extreme versions of the M5, E63 or AMG GT63s, so they ducked that confrontation and go after the C63 and M3, which a class lower. WOW so impressive.

Ditto for the CT4, which is just poorly warmed over ATS and now it picks on FWD AMG and M models. So impressive. This CT4 V will be lucky to be able to compete with a M340i and the M3 or C63 would humiliate it, so they ducked that. Really impressive things Cadillac is doing by ducking the competition and lobbing a bigger car in smaller segment. It's a real punk move.

Not to mention their upcoming Ev^es.

Should Cadillac have the even remotest chance of a genuine brand revival, that is the area in which effort (and funds) should be invested. Fire-breathing ICE-powered supersedans/sedoupes are quickly becoming as superfluous as tits on a tin can-and that not only applying to Cadillac.

The Lyriq is looking rather promising. This CT5/CT4 stuff has become utterly insignificant.

It might be, but if GM had any sense they would have launched EVs under a fresh new brand. Calling it a Cadillac is as good as setting it on fire and pushing it off a cliff.

I see this point often. Eventually electric vehicles are going to spread throughout GM's lineup under every brand. Why bother creating a new, extremely expensive brand that's only EVs if the entire company will be transitioning anyways? I feel like that strategy will end up like Saturn where it's hot for a while then becomes superfluous. Cadillac still has some brand equity despite it being a bit of a laughingstock on this forum- at the end of the day its a profitable operation.

I doubt that. Yes, Cadillac had their bad days ,but it's not Hyundai or VW. This brand has a rich history. There was a time when Cadillac was one of the best. They just need to produce their beautiful concepts and things will go better.
Lyriq will be the test.

I agree. From 1949 up until the late 1960s', Cadilllac was one of the most respected automotive brands worldwide. It (and GM) began to fumble the ball as of 1973 and in the meantime dropped it totally on occasion. A sustainable recovery hasn't been achieved since.

Cadillac consistently failed from the late 70's until 2010 or so, and that is why they're a joke today.

That said, the new Escalade is a really nice vehicle as is this CT5 V Blackwing.

I must say that I really liked these:

I recall having taken a close look at the STS-inside and out-at the 1993 IAA venue in Frankfurt. It certainly impressed me. And it was one of the very, very few cars that GM North America was able to actually sell here in Europe. Very few units-but still, one would spot an STS every now and then. They were distributed via large Opel dealerships, I recall.

Are you sure it was the IAA 1993? GM pushed with this model in 1991 in Europe. The Eldorado version was magnificent.

My father had that Sts'96 back in 90s. In Europe. It was pretty good for that time. Low,wide and long. We raced it against our friend's e38 740. STS was faster.

I seem to recall the 1993 IAA venue. The Porsche 993 Carreras and Audis' ASF (A8) Concept were featured. The STS was situated at the GM stand, which if I recall correctly, was right next to the Opel stand.

Cadillac

Cadillac Motor Car Division, or simply Cadillac, is the luxury vehicle division of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM). Its major markets are the United States, Canada and China; Cadillac models are distributed in 34 additional markets worldwide. Historically, Cadillac automobiles were at the top of the luxury field within the United States, but have been outsold by European luxury brands including BMW and Mercedes since the 2000s.
