X5 [Official] BMW X5 (F15)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
I like what I see. Yes, it resembles the other BMW trucks, just like the cars does in the BMW line-up. That might just be the reason, why it's not attractive to many. However, for my taste, it looks just fine & sure is a true sports utility for family of seven. As long as it does the job right, X5 will always be the winner for me. I'm sure, it will serve it's purpose just right. (y)

As far as the looks are concerned, IMO, the first generation (FL) X5-4.8is is the best-looking SUV to date. Period.

just watched that video posted by HoH (bmwtv clip of the X5), sheer driving pleasure was defined by 330kW and 650Nm, and no where did it mention anything about the thing's offroad capabilities, it's a SUV right?? to me they are selling it as a MPV.
No idea how the thing drives let's wait for the test drives, but this just demonstrates how BMW is not so much driver orientated anymore.. the highlights of the interior were materials, purity, design, nothing about driver orientation.
The car grew on me, i think it looks pretty good, aligns well with the X4 (concept) but not spectacular, just another new BMW.

Exterior:
front: 3 series
side: x3
rear: 5 gt

Interior:
Nice, premium feel, but nothing new.

Why BMW not individualized their cars?

I like the key, with M stripes, I already thought about that, though a real M logo could be better IMO. BMW sticks M colors/badges/names on all its products. Nothing wrong with that, but as it represents alot, BMW now does need an image holder for M, namely an M exclusive supercar/sportscar.

The interior ambient lights have about nine different settings. You can change between orange, white and blue, and different combinations of. I've seen photos but I can't save them for some reason.

Hmmm, standard version, I prefer the old one, but the M sport version one, I prefer the new. The old M package was crap IMO.

I wrote M Sport for 1st pictures of 50i with M sport package, not for the white one. Sorry for confusion.

IMO the last one looked like an aftermarket attempt where as this one looks like something which has been designed for the car from the word go.

A special mention needs to be given to the seats which are right up there with Audi's latest sports seats, these along with the latest steering wheels are BMW finally giving us something worthy of the M/Sport name.

damn even BMW is starting to play around with this as well, for a fan boy i would just be fine if they kept them orange. Just shows how competitive things are nowadays.

I got to say though, BMW got to make some pretty big revolution changes, starting hopefully with the next 7er. This generation of models, are well refined of the previous Bangle era models, which I think is OK but there are so many different models now and it gives a feeling that everything is too similar.

The interior actually changed quite a a bit, it's just too similar to other models but that's no problem for me, interior should look good and feel good, not different. No matter how the exterior is, at least when you sit in a BMW, you feel like you are in a BMW. Hopefully starting with the next 7er they have something that looks aesthetically new too.

The car is growing on me rapidly now.

Re-post:

Getting to terms with it. It's like giving water to a seedling, growing and growing more and more each day on me.

OK. Perfect evolution from the unbeatable E53 -> E70 -> F15, great evolution into what we have here. The F15's styling has fine detailing with nice creases that captures the light perfectly. And IRL that nicely-evolved-tactile cabin and steering position will, once again put the competition to shame.

Just keep looking those who doubt it, like I admittedly done from the first photo's, will come around eventually. And as time passes we will see/read the comparison tests, those in turn will prove me right.

How's that! Well done I'd say, well done-BMW(y)

I'm a bit gutted that my son would struggle so much to get himself into one of these because I'm REALLY digging the M/Sport version to the extent that I reckon it's almost as good looking as the RRSport. Might need to go away and come up with something to attach on to the grab handle to give him the leverage he needs.
