X5 [Official] BMW X5 (F15)

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Ok I admit. It looks nice.

I think even better than Cayenne consider I prefer boxy SUVs rather than slick ones. Gives it this rigid sensation.

Problem is that you will need to spend 30 minutes explaining to your neighbor/wife how this is different from the E71 X5 :D

You don't have to explain anything to anyone. If you like it, does what you want it to do and can afford it, then that's all you need to answer.

I like human-to-car-ratio photo's, so I get the sense of proportioning better. Classis X5 but more sporty than ever, just what the doctor ordered! X6 is going to be a knock-out:cool:

The guys in Solihull must have breathed a huge sigh of relief, this is a huge backwards step from the current model, it' not pretty and looks way to much like an X3. I'd take an RR Sport over this any day of the week.

Awesome! Thanks for posting(y)

But what did JLR do? They made the Evoque, I am already bored with the design it's old now feels like 25 years ago they made the Concept it was based on:sleep:
And with the RR Sport it's Copy + Paste + Enlarge Photo from 65%-100%. Typical Windows Photo Editor Trick.

Yawn...

And here is another one for you LOL

People moan about BMW's F01/02 and F10 cabin similarities:rolleyes:

Ahem!

I rest my case;)

I hated it when I first saw it... but recent pictures have convinced me otherwise.

I found the front end quite "chunky" the first time I looked at it, but I'm really starting to adore the new headlights/3D grille. Very imposing and appropriate on a sporty SUV. Rear lights are superb, and the awkwardness in the side profile seems to go away with darker colors. I think the picture Ekaru posted makes the X5 look like it has the nicest BMW face in the F family. Magnificent looking thing.

I don't know why but the more i see the front part of this car especially in this silver color, the more i dislike it.:(

How the headlights are connected to the grille IMO it's not that harmonious compared to 4er. It looks weird and cheap. The headlights seems too long that has to follow this new trend by elongating it to the grille. Darker colors really hide these awkwardness very well IMO. I guess i must admit now that E70 is still the best looking X5.
Generally, i personally don't like this new trend BMW are heading. If they want to bring more 3D grille to their cars i wish they do it in traditional way like the new 2er or 1er GT ( or even 5er LCI) which has 3D grille but in traditional form with headlights that doesn't attach to the grille. Now i'm really worried about the next X6 and the new 7er..:(

I quite like the front and how the headlight and grille are integrated. That does not look cheap to my eyes. I do think the lower dam does look a bit more fussy than it needs to be. All in all, I think this still my favorite luxo SUV in terms of appearance.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the E70 was not very reliable. In fact, I remember seeing somewhere (Consumer Report, maybe?) that it was to be avoided if buying used. If that was the case, I truly hope BMW addressed that with F15.

I was about to say the magic words (OK the car is growing on me now).

Then I saw the rear.

It looks weird and cheap.

Weird and cheap is what comes to my mind too, every time I look at it.
The grille is worst looking. As you say things like 3D grille etc, would have made a difference, but the design direction is to tone down the image of X5, to make X6 and X7 look better.

Couldn't agree more..:(
The area where the headlight and grille are connected is the worst part. It seems that they weren't designed like that before so they just elongating it to follow the latest trend. At first, maybe because of the excitement of a new BMW, i must admit that i'm a bit biased. But after looking closely and carefully with each new real life photos, i must say, IMO, it is not as good as the previous generation. But i hope it will look better once i see it IRL..

That real life photo of the white M/SportX5 with shadow line looks brilliant but so far I've yet to be impressed by the SE model and these real life shots aren't doing anything to change that.
