M6 [Official] BMW M6 (F12/13)

The BMW M6 is a high-performance version of the 6 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand from 1983 to 2019 (with a hiatus from 1990 to 2004). Introduced in the coupe body style, the M6 was also built in convertible and fastback sedan ('Gran Coupe') body styles for later generations. An M6 model was built for each of the first three generations of the 6 Series. Production of the M6 ended in 2019 and it was replaced by the BMW M8 (F91/F92/F93) in 2019. Official website: BMW M

BMW M6 Competition Package boosts performance and handling
Latest M6 models are now available with a Competition Package, which offers a 40bhp power hike and firmer suspension

The revised BMW M6 Competition Pack is now available on the M6 Coupé, M6 Gran Coupé and M6 Convertible. The new package brings an increase in power and torque and an incremental improvement to standing-start acceleration.

Key among the changes to the optional package is a more highly tuned version of BMW M’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine.

It now develops an added 25bhp, at 592bhp. That’s 40bhp more than the standard M6 engine. Torque has increased by 15lb ft to a new peak of 516lb ft from 1500rpm to 5000rpm.

The increased reserves are directed through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and an electronically controlled Active M Differential to 20in rear wheels that feature a new double-spoke design.

BMW M quotes a 0-62mph time of 3.9sec for the M6 Coupé and 4.0sec for the M6 Gran Coupé and M6 Convertible with Competition Package. These are quicker than the standard models by 0.2sec in the case of the M6 Gran Coupé and 0.3sec for the coupé and convertible M6s.

BMW also claims the new Competition Package cuts the M6 Coupé’s 0-124mph time by 0.6sec compared with the previous package, at 11.8sec.

Along with the performance boost, the new package brings firmer springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, changes in the calibration of the Active M Differential and dynamic stability control and more direct mapping for the electro-mechanical steering.

Top speed is limited to 155mph but can be raised to 189mph with the addition of an M Driver’s Package.

Fantastic news. M6 Coupe Competition Package at 600 hp, very very nice. Should have been 600 for both M5 and M6 from the beginning ;)

M6 coupe 0-100 in 3.9 secs!

Wouldn't it be nice if BMW M could bring out a once off limited edition BMW M3 30 jare anniversary model with this 600PS engine and carbon fibre body? That would be a fantastic way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the M3/M4!

To me the top by M is the M6 GC. There is nothing more perfect with 4 doors. It's gonna be a huge task for BMW to top that with the bext 6er.

Nah, far too nose heavy @Rolf. Keep the I6 and give it 500 hp, should be more than enough with CF improvements to make it lighter.

Will be very easy to improve on the current M6 GC imo, because it is the heaviest M sedan ever in the history of M. Out of my head it is just shy of 2000 kg. Damn.
Early reports say the next 6er will shed 200 kg, so the next M6 is going to win from the current.

Georg Kacher said back in December the next 6er would reduce weight from 4000 lbs to 3500 lbs, which is more or less 225 Kg. The front and rear overhangs will be reduced and the weight distribution changed for a more sporty set up.

The goal is to compete with the Panamera instead of with the CLS and A7.

After the sleek looks of the M3 GT2, and the sexiness of the Z4 GT3/LM, the M6 GT3 does look a bit too 'round' and porky. Maybe it's just the psychedelic testing livery that is hiding the lines and aero elements.

2016 BMW M6 GT3

Race debut set for next year
BMW has announced to stage the world premiere of the M6 GT3 on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The track-only beast has been exhibited already by BMW but it was wearing a camouflage lively which thankfully will come off at IAA when the company's motorsport division will start taking orders for their latest race car priced at €379,000 in Europe, with pricing for North America to be disclosed at a later date.

Weighing less than 2,866 lbs (1,300 kg), the M6 GT3 will use a race-spec twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter which depending on the car's classification will generate as much as 585 bhp (436 kW) pushed to the road through a 6-speed sequential gearbox also optimized for race use.

The BMW M6 GT3 will start competing in 2016 in a variety of both national and international series, including here the more grueling endurance races. Interestingly, BMW Motorsport says the running costs of the new model will actually be 30% lower than those of the outgoing Z4 GT3 after efforts were made during development to have spare parts at a more affordable price.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
