M3/M4 Official: BMW M3 GTS

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Has the limited production run simply got to do with the level of demand out there and how it influences the R.O.I of this project ?

Eventhough there have been a number of cancelled projects, it's good to see that BMW are at least producing such a vehicle to show that they haven't forgotten about raw performance/track cars. Everyone knows that BMW is capable of it, but their belief that BMW would actually be willing to producing such a car was waning.

Was this more a case of "well, we've learnt a few nifty things from the M5 V10 engine upgrading we did, so let's apply that to the M3's V8 and offer a special limited-production model" ... or ... was it that a bunch of folks with deep pockets were asking/hinting for BMW to create a special M3 since BMW had created 2 such models with the E46 M3 (GTR and CSL) ??

Or something else.. ?

But if its not available to them for purchase, instead of shutting up they will start sending hate mail to the Company.

I'm sure they'll also have a limited-run of diecast models available for all the enthusiasts/whingers who didn't get the chocolate bar with the Golden Ticket invitation to purchase the actual car.

:t-hihi:

The price of the BMW M3 GTS with the features shown is expected to be EUR 115,000.- for delivery in Germany, including 19% VAT.
The first vehicles are due to be supplied in May 2010. For technical reasons relating to registration, the first vehicles to be produced will be those for individual registration in Germany. According to current planning, registrations in other countries will be possible from summer 2010.

What a car this is
It will be a big hit on the back account :) lol

Man this is a thru motorsports car. The cage the seats the steeringwheel the wheels brakes suspension. Holy mothor of G.. a dream car comes thru at last.

Very classy execution, but a car like this would be best based on the 1-Series which has more favourable dimensions and weight.

1490 kg is very light bro ^^^^

:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool:icondroolOMFG, what a monster..

BMW STRIKES BACK!!!!!
Someone post the pics and the movie. I love the color and interior!! Holy crap...bye bye GT3!

Eni, your negativity is complely out of place, and the car can be bought by Adv if he wants to. Check the official website

BMW M3 GTS. Pure M genes. (+Interview with Dr. Kay Segler. https://www.m-power.com/_open/b/editorial.jsp?id=2021&lang=en)

Even when you see it from a distance, you are instantly electrified. As a BMW M enthusiast, every step you take towards the orange painted concept vehicle of the BMW M3 GTS with its numerous matt black applications raises your adrenaline level a little more.

Exclusive 19-inch wheels with ample 255/35 tyres at the front and 285/30 at the rear catch your eye.

All this is certainly nice looking and sensible, but what you glimpse through the spokes of the aluminium wheel rims is even more exciting: a generously sized fixed caliper brake system with six pistons at the front and four at the rear.

The wheels almost fill out the wheel arches, but if you look closely you discover the next highlight. Yellow springs with a small M logo provide the crucial clue: a threaded suspension, adjustable in compression and rebound. “The rear axle support is bolted in place,” adds the responsible engineer.

The expert will also spot the adjustable front splitter and rear wing. One thing is clear: this car is serious stuff. Not only can a high level of downforce be generated but it also precisely adjustable at front and rear. Fast bends can look forward to welcoming the BMW M3 GTS - but they won’t get to see it for long.

“The serial production BMW M3 is already weight-optimised with a whole range of measures reserved for the BMW M3 CSL in the last model - the striking carbon lightweight roof, for example.”

So the engineers had to get back to work again to come up with more. Light body-contoured seats are a must.

A cluster of lightweight construction measures such as optimisation of the insulation, the use of lightweight parts in the interior, the use of Macrolon for the car's windows in the back, the lack of air conditioning, navigation and radio and the entire rear seat also gets the scales the down.

And the new titanium rear silencer not only looks great and contributes to the thrilling sound of the BMW M3 GTS, it is also much lighter than its serial production counterpart.

Indispensable for safety reasons: the lightweight construction body has been prepared for installation of the 6-point seatbelt included for use on the race track. There are also mounts for the roll-over protective structure bolted on from the B column. A fire extinguisher and a battery master switch/emergency shut-off preparation do not make the car lighter either - but safer.

So the BMW M3 GTS concept vehicle puts the scales up to around 1490 kilograms - causing the engineer to give an appreciative nod.

And the drivetrain? The heart of the BMW M3 GTS?

The car is fitted with a 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with adapted shift characteristics. But an absolute highlight is to be found under the bonnet. Exclusively for the BMW M3 GTS, the engine builders of BMW M - recent winners of the Engine of the Year Award once again - have developed a power unit based on the M high-performance engine of the current BMW M3: with a capacity of 4.4 litres and an output of some 450 bhp, it will catapult the light BMW M3 GTS into a whole new sphere.

After all, the aim is to clearly beat the lap time of the legendary M3 CSL on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. And test runs certainly give grounds for optimism.

Lol the fanboy inside you just awoke, easy on the enthusiasm;) Will let this one slide though as I know how long you Munich africandos have been waiting for a car like this. So let's all celebrate this moment:)

Thanks God it's finally over!!!

:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

I had much difficulty to keep this baby in secret for such a long time. In some post a while ago I gave you a hint a street-legal M3 GT4 is a go. And than I was warned several times very harshly to shut my mouth, or else ... :eusa_thin

The car is a real killer. Production will be VERY limited. Customer list is basically already full. But you can DREAM. :usa7uh::D

Yes eni

pfff i can talk too i knew it since the E30 DTM was driving and winning. But there it is at last.

Although I wish you all the best in the race to get one. :t-cheers:

Don't give up. If not else you can get a second-hand one.

But if I were you I would call M GmbH very early tomorrow. :D If you really have an intention to buy a car.

I don't mean to be asking questions when we all should be celebrating and cheering this amazing car, but I'm curious as to why the recent BMW engines have only managed to produce ~103hp/L, where as the previous generation M3 variants managed a tad higher figures.

E92 M3: 414hp/4.0L = 103.5hp/L
E92 M3 GTS: 450hp/4.4L = 102.3hp/L

E46 M3: 343hp/32L = 107.2hp/L
E46 M3 CSL: 360hp/3.2L = 112.5hp/L
E46 M3 GTR: 444hp/4.0L (V8) = 111hp/L

A few horsepower here or there isn't a problem in the real world, but looking purely at the numbers, is there a reason why the new M3 isn't as highly strung as the E46. Does it have something to do with a V-configuration compared to the inline-6 (though the M3 GTR was a V8)... or because the engine in the E92 M3 came from the E60 V10, so there may have had to be a small compromise ...or is there some 'rule' that the more cylinders you add, the lower your hp/L figure becomes (coz with the M5 V10, it's hp/L is 101.4)?

Just curious about this, because eventhough 450hp is nothing to complain about, but for such a 'hardcore' model with an increase in displacement, the figure of 450hp seems a bit conservative. I'm not very technically knowledgeable when it comes to engines, so I was hoping a few members on here could give a possible explanation to this issue.

:)

By the way. The great looking CF front splitter, the big rear wing, and the stripped out interior. If this car wasn't a BMW, I'd say this car was headed for a future in NASCAR! :D ;)

Great car! Loving the color, and the macho factor!

Let's hope that Audi will build a RS5 + or something in the future, with the new aluminum body of the A5, so they can match this baby :)

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
