Firstly, where did you read the 7 Series will have a leather engine cover? I THINK I know where you read it but that was a post which mentioned options coming to the 7 Series AND the i8.
Secondly, how would a leather engine cover work on a 7 Series?! Unless this is some kind of bizarre road BMW are going up with personalisation, I assume the leather engine cover is something in the INTERIOR of the i8 behind the passengers and above the engine which exchanges a cloth material for a more premium leather material. I certainly don't think you're going to be able to spec a leather covering to your 7 Series engine. That would be mad.
With regards to ECO PRO, I use it on highways with the cruise control activated. Not because the throttle mapping gives me any benefit, but because it also puts the air con in a more efficient mode. However, there are downsides to this. In winter it means the windows fog up more, and in the summer, the interior doesn't seem as cool.
There is also an extra problem on newer BMWs with a "coasting" function which is activated on selecting ECO PRO. I had this on the 640i I had for a week a month ago (I still need to make a post about my time with it). On busy but free-flowing motorways in the UK, which is pretty much the case from 6am to midnight, it's very hard to maintain your desired distance from the car in front. I like to use the cruise control as much as possible and have become quite adept at deselecting the cruise button on the steering wheel whenever I see the traffic in front slowing down. If done correctly you can travel a long distance deactivating and activating the cruise function without ever touching the brakes. However, with the "coast" function, when you deactivate the cruise the speed barely reduces which leaves you scrambling for the brakes at the last second when your forward momentum hasn't been scrubbed off as much as you'd expected. It makes for very erratic progress and is rather annoying. Luckily you can deselect the coasting function, although when activated the fuel savings are tangible.
For what it's worth, on a long journey using ECO PRO the whole time, I am told by the car that on a full tank in a 3,5 or 7 Series diesel, the bonus km is around 200km.
On my M135i it tends to be in single figures, so I don't use it.
a norwegian car magazine managed to achieve 0,5l/10km with an audi q7 (can't remember engine size) in an eco challange sponsored by audi, so it's possible to push the milage quite high if you use all the tricks
There's your explanation there.![]()
THEY were driving and i know they DIDN'T get the most ecofriendly engine (nor did they get the biggest)
0.5 l/10km? So 5 l/100km then? Yes, I can believe you could extract economy to that level.
Sorry, but who uses l/10km? It's normally referred to in l/100km.
Which automotive hierarchy that owns that mega automotive conglomerate has this personal licence plate on their very own BMW i8?

Yes a BMW i8...
Wow! The Emperor of the (VAG) Empire himself. Who would have thought! Envy much?
Aha french style like Citroén![]()
Don't like how the wipers operate. Each wiper going different direction. Reminds me of a van or a subcompact car. Why couldn't BMW go W210 style single wiper?
Why Sula ?

They're still the Borg.
Star Wars theme might be a joke, the Borg is what they really are.
Rumours are circling over intensive discussion over a Bugatti SUV... You just know it is inevitable.
