Its horrible..it looks like it belongs in a future where we have not yet reached..

A fictional future a la hollywood..

Looks like a damn robot car..

There's always worse though, it's clearly not as bad as the 20th century stuff MB is pumping out :D

Everybody else is showing where the market is...BMW are showing where its going...

This is a stunning vehicle. I'm almost ready to go alternative/electric. Makes me think what type of design BMW would come up with for a traditional sports car. All the rich tree huggers are going to be parking this right next to their Tesla S.

I love it!

But, there is one thing I will never understand.

Audi, BMW... this is just so wrong guys. Now please give back the jackets to each other. You had a great night out, got drunk, and you mixed up your jackets, where your light design sketches were.

Why, buddy?
They have the SLS and R8. No need to be panicking. It's BMW that just cought up, and it's about time they did!

i8 is a completely different car compared to R8 and SLS. BMW is far ahead in electricity, but don't fred, VAG will be where BMW is now......in 4-5 years.

Do agree about the headlight sharing though! Funny stuff indeed.

Very nice. Again, as @EnI and @SCOTT27 say, this car is "of the future" and is without competitor, so there is no point in comparing it with other, not even with the up-coming NSX, whoes true rival will be the BMW M "i'don't know what" that SCOTT has been talking about, unless it is like the V6 engine, i.e. never comes. Of course there might be cross-shopping, but not based on performance or price. I think many of the wealthy "green" people who are currently driving Toyota Prius might drive this soon.

Any pics of CF wheels? I said CF is also of future, didn't expect it is be so fast, especially at BMW.

Anyway, now please a similar car, sportscar/supercar but with a proper engine, let it even be the M3/M4's I6.

Yeah tht's how things go.

BMW employees are probably in awe @ the Porsche stand, learning a thing or two (or ten) from the 918.... ;)

Yeah. Press days can be boring. Everyone walks around. When I was in Frankfurt three years ago I caught Henrik Fisker over by Panamera stand and then encountered the designer of the CLS checking out an Audi Quattro Concept.

I thought black looked good, white is even more stunning.

Agreed, white body with dark accents looks best on this car!

^no it is actually worse..

And im dead serious... look at it.

Yes, it does need some time to adjust to, no doubt.
No instant love here either, I'll wait for more, and my first real life encounter.

I always have to think about this horrible creation (SAAB Phoenix concept) when I see the rear of the i8 :( :( :(

Sort of the same strange flaps on it....the idea on the SAAB and BMW is pretty much the same, and I am not sure I like it.

I take it all back. This thing is stunning both inside and out. Surely the car of the show by a couple of light years. Bloody impressive BMW; I hope and pray that it a) drives well, b) lasts well and c) sells well!

A) Of course
B) warranty so who cares?
C) I hope so!!

But, isn't the 918 at the show as well? That more impressive to me, imho.
