Vantage [Official] Aston Martin Vantage (2018)

Earlier this month I requested a finance quote on a factory ordered Vantage. Here is what I was offered:

Cost of car: £130,000(modest spec with no carbon)
PCP duration: 24 months
Mileage limit: 6,000/year
Deposit: £38,000
Monthly payments: £1,500
GFV after 24 months: £77,000

I nearly fell off my chair when I read the quote. All cars depreciate but no deposit contribution and a value of £77k after 2 years is not confidence-inspiring. I now understand why hardly any British vlogger has bought a Vantage. The price is simply too damn high. 12-18 examples have been advertised for £90-100k which hints at a 50-60k depreciation in the first year including dealer margins.

AM should transplant the below interior into the cabin of the Vantage.

It would be great if Aston provided journalists with prototype drives of the V6TT in the Vantage. The exhaust note will likely be decent given that an F-Type V6 sounds marvellous.

Considering the last decent Bond movie was released in 2006, I am not sure associating yourself with that franchise is a net positive :sneaky:.
 
the engine issue will be resolved in due course, the TTV6 will be swapped in and the V8 will be a thing if the past.

If they get rid of the Mercedes engine, I hope they get rid of the Mercedes interior too. Major deal breaker.

Except the for rocket launcher the car does look gorgeous in my opinion.
 
The proportions are spot on. Tight, wide and low.i prefer this grille.

Price is still an issue. After options it's the price of a used Huracan and will likely lose 30% of its väl e in the first year.
 
I really can not understand why Aston is performing so bad on the market for new cars and the huge depreciation on the second hand market. I'm sure I'm from the minoruty here but I would always take an Aston instead of a Porsche.

1. All-rounder GTs losing their market position as supercars are now comfortable enough to daily and performance SUV well rounded and have high demand.
2. An engine and gearbox that you can experience in an AMG GTC or C63 for significantly less.
3. Dated infotainment with Mercedes switchgear.
4. James Bond effect not as strong as 10-20 years ago.
5. Bentley and Porsche have out-invested Aston.

A 911 is the automotive equivalent of gold. A liquid commodity which high desirability and demand. At any given point there are always people willing to buy a GT3, Turbo or GT4 at or above market value.

F*ck the market value. You live once. These cars are all about emotions. And Astons have more soul than Porsches.

I've definitely had a soft spot for Aston in the past, but at the moment, even with a lottery win, I couldn't see myself visiting an Aston Martin dealer... I've never lusted after a Porsche, and probably wouldn't end up in a Porsche dealer either, but if I had to chose between the two.. at the moment it would probably be a Porker. The DB11/S, Vantage and DBX just don't do it for me like the predecessors did, soul or not.
 
According to Matt, Aston Martin improved the Vantage. This is the 3rd car he tested.
