Valkyrie [Official] Aston Martin - From AM-RB 001 to Valkyrie

The Aston Martin Valkyrie (also known by its code-names as AM-RB 001 and Nebula) is a limited production hybrid sports car collaboratively built by Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies, and several other parties. Production: November 2021 – December 2024.
you can have said the same about Murray when he designed the F1, look how awesome that turned out.
There is a big difference between Newey and Murray, though.

Newey has literally done nothing but designing single seater racers ever since he enrolled to college. His first job was in F1, then he did CART briefly, and then he got back in F1 where he's been ever since for the last 34 years. As far as I know he never designed anything else.

Murray, on the other hand, started by building his own race car (which was basically a Lotus 7 replica) at 20, built himself a road legal car (the Minbug) once he emigrated to the UK, built a couple of one-off road cars and finally created the LCC Rocket. So before he ever got to doing the F1 he had acquired a lot of experience.

Either way, that's probably not even the biggest problem. After all, just because Newey and Murray were the chief designers doesn't mean they designed the whole car themselves. They would serve mostly as directors, communicating their vision to the engineering teams which would actually be doing the job. Of course, with more experience your vision should be the better developed and more successful one, but without skilled colleagues it's not gonna work out that great. The problem for Newey was that he was surrounded on one side by his Red Bull guys who probably wouldn't have much experience with designing road cars either, and on the other side by AM guys who never designed anything with performance in their lives.

With all due respect, your claim regarding the insignificance of the role of project managers in engineering projects is inaccurate. You also underestimate the sensitive technical linkages between the fluid dynamics aspect of things and the engine/drivetrain components/concerns. Newey and Murray are different animals, but their areas of expertise are by no means mutually exclusive.

The LCC Rocket was designed while he was designing the F1.

I have only ever envied one group of car owners:

You'd be lucky to get that 0-100kph time on road tyres in 1998 without launch control.

SCG007 will look like a legit Le Mans car if @James Glickenhaus gets the required deposits..

Very quietly (🤫) I've been following SCG VERY closely indeed. Infact they've been instrumental in trying to get to the bottom of this "homologation" stuff I'm facing elsewhere with other manufacturers. Incredible manufacturer and the 007 is a hypercar!🙂

Some interesting info in the presentation: 1000 hp, 11.100 rpm, a bit less than 1.000 kg, more than 2.000 kg downforce at 330 KM/h, more aggressive tub than Valkyrie. Peak braking: 3g; peak corner 3g; constant 2,5g.

Just wow! With every change of gear, the car seems to leap in time-space the way the Millennium Falcon jumps into hyperspace. Exhilarating!

That's like the next step for the road-legal based, track-only hypercar.
