Valkyrie [Official] Aston Martin - From AM-RB 001 to Valkyrie

The Aston Martin Valkyrie (also known by its code-names as AM-RB 001 and Nebula) is a limited production hybrid sports car collaboratively built by Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies, and several other parties. Production: November 2021 – December 2024.
Selections from A. Newey's interview with Autocar re: Valkyrie:

“It’s still slightly raw; there’s some development still to be done...The car at Goodwood didn’t have active suspension and there’s lots of mapping work still to be done. But I think when everything comes together, it will be really special.”

“The cabin noise is higher than we wanted, I have to be honest.”

"The analogy I always had in my mind was a modern superbike: incredible performance, you can take it to the shops, but you really need to have your wits about you or it will bite you. When you really enjoy it is when you take it on track."

“Red Bull Advanced Technology was set up for exactly this project, but it has grown and matured, and we’ve got quite a lot of commercial projects on the books now...So yes, absolutely, we would like to do another vehicle. Exactly what that is and what it’s targeted at is subject to debate. Watch this space is probably the easiest way to put it.”

Really? Aston Martin must be really desperate for cash. Not only are they making a Valkyrie Roadster - which makes no sense whatsoever as far as the purpose of the car or how it's supposed be used goes - but I bet the Roadster build numbers are also not included in the original 150 road cars planned. So this is gonna be another 25+ cars - with increased price as well, no doubt - to get deposits from. This is in addition to also increasing the AMR Pro build numbers from 25 to 40.

Dropping the roadster before you ever have a coupe make it through production

Its another cash grab.

Normally I would be making similar comments, but this is an exception.

Just for a second, imagine driving that, roofless, with that V12 behind you. I think I would literally bust a nut from the sound and vibrations.

You're more likely to bust a nut getting in or out of the Valkyrie.

his is more to do with they need to get deposit money in now to prop up the balance sheet.

All the other big boys do it as well, Ferrari unexpectedly chopped the roof off the LaFerrari then flogged off another 210 Apertas. Ferrari also sold 1300 F40’s when they originally planned a run of 400.

F1 is an expensive sport/sponsorship programme. Furthermore the brand needs a point of difference and collaboration with Adrian Newey is a key one.

You are sure to go deaf driving this thing. That V12 is going to literally be in your ear.
The thing is, the standard car is already so loud that you'll go deaf with the roof on - I am not sure the spider is gonna make it any worse or better. Which is also why there is absolutely no point in getting the spider. The Valkyrie is not a car for relaxing sporty drives on the weekend with a wind in your hair and a tuneful V12 in the background. It's a brutal, barely legal race car that'll beat you up in every way possible, and completely useless for anything that isn't track work. The spider is purely a never to be driven collectors item and a way for AM to make loads of extra cash. And they are certainly giving it the best shot... I thought they were gonna make like 25-50 cars... but they are making 85. 85 extra! Considering how many people must have bought the standard car purely as an investment/to say that they have it, I wonder what they think now that a rarer and possibly more collectible version has been revealed on top of the originally announced numbers. They are probably not too happy. But, that said, for these track focused cars, the spider is not necessarily always the more collectible option, so we'll see. Either way, it dilutes the exclusivity of the 150 original models.

Might have been a bit more clever to get a few of the long delayed Valkyrie Coupes delivered before announcing the Spider.
