DBX [Official] Aston Martin DBX

DBX sticks out like a sore thumb. It's so massi...

I am actually impressed on how they have applied the aesthetics of the DB11 and Vantage to a higher riding SUV.
It's a perfect blend of performance and utility.
I have already ordered mine.

Albeit in 1/43 and 1/18 scales.:p

Nice CUV, reminds me Infiniti FX in some way, but the Mercedes engine an infotainment are deal breakers. I'd still prefer the worse Levante or the FWD Bentayga.

I saw the DBX today and agree. It has the proportions of a crossover rather than an SUV. Think of it like a RR Velar but with more muscle. Proportions are excellent with a surprisingly sleek proportions thanks to the loooong body. At 5,039mm, the car did not fit inside the parking bay.

The interior was in a pastel olive green colour and exterior in low-key shade of blue.

A few meters away there was a full fat range rover that had greater presence thanks to the 30cm greater body height.

It will be great if Aston Martin offered a sports kit or trim to accentuate the car's purpose a bit more. Other than that reviews are good as it seems to be an uncontested middle ground between a Range Rover and a Urus.

That shade of blue looks fantastic on it.

Nice render sedan SUV?, starting from the base DBX, they don't have to screw it up

Uh, no lol. It's time for some variants and they're on the way. I just hope the ultimate version has a V12 in it. That will be the SUV Lamborghini should have built. I don't even think the Ferrari SUV/Crossover will have a V12 right?

Except for sound, I can't think of another tangible benefit of a V12 that would make up for the added weight.

The simple fact that it is a V12 will be the draw for most potential owners. Why else would anyone buy any V12 over the cheaper V8 models.

For the DB11, the V12 is off course smoother but the V8 makes the car feel lighter and more agile to drive. The V12 could do well in the DBX if Aston has bothered upgrading the engine to keep up with V8s like the one powering the AMG GT Black Series.

I don't think I'd be too opposed driving a Straight Six over a V8. I think that'd do wonders for their sales here in the US.

This guy says it is more fun to drive than the Shmurus/Rsq8...
Because you can feel the drama.

On February 01, Aston Martin unveiled the quickest and most powerful ultra-luxury SUV in the world. Based on the brand’s lovely DBX, the DBX 707 sports nearly 700 horsepower, besting rivals such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan (600 hp), Bentley Bentayga Speed (626 hp), and Lamborghini Urus (641 hp).

All of these galloping ponies arrive courtesy of version of a newly massaged version of Aston’s mellifluous 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which has been extensively re-tuned to produce over 25% more power than in its base trim. (The engine itself is derived from a design from Mercedes-AMG, and is good enough to power that brand’s all-new SL roadster.)

Putting this power to all four wheels via an all-new 9-speed “wet clutch” transmission, the DBX 707 is able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. This bests the competition as well.

Of course, in order to handle all of this petroleate mayhem, the 707 also receives significant upgrades to its braking, suspension, and handling—including standard Formula One-derived carbon ceramic brakes—which should make what we consider the best-handling luxury SUV even better.

And to add “show” to the “go,” the already-gorgeous DBX includes a more aggressive treatment of its body, incorporating satin gloss trim, a huge quad-outlet exhaust pipes, a larger iteration of Aston’s signature hill-climb grille, and gigantic 23” wheels.

All of this comes at a price, of course. The DBX 707 starts at $232,000. Though this slots it nicely between the Bentley ($250,000) and the Lamborghini ($225,000), it’s well below the Rolls ($336,000).

As this demonstrates, Aston continues to push the envelope in the development of its gasoline-powered engines. But what does this focus on carbon-powered vehicles mean, at a time when its competitors are promising a shift to electrification, and Aston’s own battery-powered projects appear to have stalled.

“We set out a strategy for electrification, and it will focus first on performance-orientation. So, not a long-range hybrid. A performance-oriented hybrid, with two electric motors,” said Aston-Martin CEO Tobias Moers. “So, hybridization is the next step to go, and officially, we talk about 2025 as when we are going to launch our first pure electric drive vehicle.”

Aston is excited about this path. “It’s the path to go. And we have to figure out how to bring the philosophy of our brand into the future of electric drive, but I’m not so scared about that,” said Moers. “We have a lot of attributes we can keep in the cars. Driving dynamics, the sense of personalization. So it’s merging together, ultra-luxury with electric drive.”
