Coupé/Roadster Offical: MINI Coupe Concept

The Mini Coupé and Mini Roadster are two-seater sports cars that were engineered and manufactured by German automaker BMW under the Mini marque between 2011 and 2015.
It's a nice little coupe. Refreshing design but nevertheless retains that familiar Mini-look. :usa7uh: My only complaint is the slightly awkward-looking roof.

Sorry for the OT :o:

EnI, has the Head of Design for BMW Automobiles been named yet?

Not very imaginative at all. It's just a standard Mini hatch with a lowered roof. The roof is messy and looks like an after thought.

No, Adrian is still doing both jobs (BMW & BMW Group design) ... Yet still BMW automobile design team has both sub-directors in place. Exterior design: Anders Warming (creator of Z4, GINA, Mille Miglia Concept). Interior Design: Marc Girard (ex-MINI design interior design chief).

Mind now the "revolution" @ BMW is done, and MINI & RR brands are re-established ... also BMW design department has now been sucesfully revived, and BMW Group turned into much more design-led company ...

Much less work to do on the managerial level now. It was a lot more hectic when Chris was in place being the design chief - when all the new departments & organizational stuff had to be established.

:t-cheers:

daaaaamn, funky looking thing. reminds me a bit of the direction citroën is going with their little cars but who goves a ..., I like those too. Small cars are premium and cool, and we have citroën, BMW and mini to thank for that. :t-cheers:

With the launch of the MINI Coupe Concept you can get an understanding of how MINI will seperate it's models.

There will be the Core models like the 3dr and Cabrio. Lifestyle will take form of the Crossover , Clubman and SpaceBox. And then you will have the Niche Sporty concepts such as the Coupe and Speedster.
MINI will not be an conventional brand.

Besides you still have the Speedster Concept coming up at the IAA stay tuned.

Aww... thats cute! No fan of the roof, but that will be gone on the Speedster :-)

Kinda looks a mess, especially the roof.....looks like an ill-fitting toupee. I was expecting a real coupe body, not just a cut down roof job of the regular car. This one going to take some time.

M

Why was I expecting this from you guys???

:D

Oh well!

And of course. YouTube - MINI 50th Birthday

Happy Birthday MINI - you've just made a car for Noddy and Big Ears.

I'm a big fan of the MINI 3 door hatch. But, as with the laughable MINI BarnMan, this thing is comical.

As if a regular MINI wasn't sassy and stylish enough for the mod set. This is a MINI-too-far in my opinion. Sorry, not raining on the parade - just my opinion thrown into the debate. I don't see a rational need for this car.

Really? So we will see this car and another Concept at the IAA? Great news!

Yes.

Coupe, Roadster or Both?

Aside from being a birthday present, the 2009 Mini Coupe Concept is a serious design proposal. In fact, it will be shown at Frankfurt in the company of a roadster concept. "This roadster showcar has not been finished yet," Hildebrand tells us. He's about to go on, when one of the BMW executives present warns him against continuing. But someone else in the studio tells us that eventually, they will decide to build either the coupe or the roadster. Or both. Or neither.

Lol...Agreed! Then again I have never been a Mini fan anyway.

Well I guess it would fit into the overall Mini look, but it would have been nice to see them take a different approach for the concept. Maybe something more dramatic even if this one because the final production model.

Nice Signature Yannis BTW.

no, we all very well know what you're a fan of

I highly doubt that. I probably more open to a lot more non-german car companies then most of the people on this forum.

I'm starting to mildly warm to the looks but my own misguided sense of the aesthetic just can't get away from the look of the roof. Quite unlike those sexy, floating roof designs, this roof looks like a tacked on pith-helmet. Surely a more conservative roofline with straight edges would've looked better than the strange half-pillar design seen here?

This is incredibly funky!

and I bet it handles like a go kart!

Will be a riot to drive:t-drive:

MINI

Mini (stylized as MINI) is a British automotive brand founded in 1969, owned by German BMW since 2000, and used by them for a range of small cars assembled in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands. The word Mini has been used in car model names since 1959, and in 1969 it became a brand in its own right when the name "Mini" replaced the separate "Austin Mini" and "Morris Mini" car model names.
